Self-Portrait-12-20-2014-16X20.jpg

Finished a self portrait this morning…
Posted on December 23, 2014
Woke up at 3 am to work. Sat listening to “Angela’s Ashes” on audio book for an hour or more before I realized I had not yet done anything and must have fell asleep. Finished final touches on the self portrait seen here and started in on another drawing of myself. I am not narcissistic, but I am sure some will believe me to be. I am just a believer in exercising and flexing my drawing muscles. Besides I am the cheapest and easiest model to work with.

Pierson - A Pair of Jumper Cables Walk Into a Bar (hand signed)
"A Pair of Jumper Cables Walk Into a Bar" also called "Some Kind of Nut" is a fine art digital color print created by Jeffrey F. Pierson in 2014. This detailed image is part of an edition of 500, for which there will be no others created, numbered and signed. Pierson was inspired after listening to Steven King talk at an open forum. A favorite author of the artist.

Working on multiple images at the same time…

I have a habit of working on multiple images at the same time…

Since finishing the portrait of Bob Marley ArtWallow.com - Bob Marley - Limited Edition (hand signed) I have been finessing an image of Audrey Hepburn and working on some images related to dreams such as… ArtWallow.com - Passing Dreams of Metalic Taste Bring Stalking Strangers - Limited Edition (hand signed)

The dream imagery is my major focus the rest of this week since I have spent so much time on the series with little to show in the way of finished work. Working multiple images at one time has a great advantage in that a revelation on how to solve an issue in one work can inspire the forward movement on another, but you can also find that you have over 300 images started and not much to show for it. So completion becomes the goal. Now when all the sudden I have a new image every other day, readers/viewers will know that it did not all happen over night.

“One Number Repeated with Varied Outcome” ArtWallow.com - One Number Repeated With Varied Outcome - Limited Edition (hand signed), completed 2/26/2015 has been in the works for a few months and is based on a recurring dream. As sometimes happens with recurring dreams the events, characters, and outcome changes. All that seems to remain the same is a female voice repeating the number 36 and the appearance of the number over and over.

I have a couple of images based on this dream already in progress… one related image that has already been added to the sight is “Passing Dreams of Metallic Taste Bring Stalking Strangers” ArtWallow.com - Passing Dreams of Metalic Taste Bring Stalking Strangers - Limited Edition (hand signed) . I am not sure I could ever explain my surrealist imagery as it often is as much a mystery to me as it is to the viewer. Exploration of dreams/nightmares has always interested me and I think this series will probably be in the works for a long time.

If a person has an obsession with numbers and letters, memorizing them and writing them doodling excessively, making repeated marks as a form of release… to a point that it becomes distracting and all consuming, does that make them crazy?

If you trip and fall in the parking lot and remember the number 36 as it relates to the movie “Clerks”, does it bring a chuckle?

Being the smallest number with exactly 9 divisors, 36 is a highly composite number. Adding up some subsets of its divisors (e.g., 6, 12 and 18) gives 36, hence 36 is a semiperfect number.

The sum of the integers from 1 to 36 is 666, the number of the beast.

Revelations contains 36 visions.

36 is the number of the Great Quaternary of the Pythagorean.

Trust me when I say one should not pay to much attention to numbers unless it has to do with finances or your work. If you do not heed my warning you might end up like Jim Carrey’s character in “the Number 23″.
