Some of you may know I have been working as a TA/Discipline. (I work at an alternative school. The majority of our students are in the Juvenile Justice System. Pat them down, shoes off, socks off, check jackets, etc. yada yada)

A few weeks ago, one of the Senior TA/Discipline staff decided to start sniffing the students hands/fingers as they came in to the school. (Suspecting the students had been smoking the lawn. Ha!)

As God as my witness, I would never do that! I will pat the students down...well...do a lot of stuff...but I will never sniff anyone's hands/fingers! (That's way out of my pay range.)

I don't understand your co-worker's thought here, Siggy.....
I can smell cigarette smoke, and other types of smoke from a mile away. The odor also sits in a person's hair and clothing.
So why the need to sniff the student's fingers?
