Thanks, Maddie! I knew if anyone knew for sure, it would be you! Thanks for sharing it again. It's good to see JD smiling and having fun ♥

Youre so welcome, Its a wonderful pleasure to share all his things here anytime and always. Theres that one footage I still look for myself and never found, where he strolled out onto the Lynyrd Skynyrd stage during a concert and whispered into Ronnie Van Zants ear that the Stones were delayed (because of Keith Richards getting a transfusion, remember that one? ) and they needed to continue playing, it was definetly filmed, if I ever do find that one I will head straight here with it! :encouragement:

Ohhhh, yes! I remember that story. I hope you do find the footage. I've saved all the photos he shared with me, and there's a video clip of he and Anne dancing....I love that one, too.

I have photos of him and Anne dancing but I don't recall having or posting the actual footage though still it could be somewhere in his things, I imagine that it is very beautiful.

You can say anything in a song and it can still be a hit. Proof Be-Bop A Lula. And many more. It does not have to have a meaning, Probably best if it doesn't then you dont have to risk to be called pretentious, instead you will be called cool.

This is the most common complaint against Prog Rock. Guess ya just have to "get it" or ya don't. ;)

....Debby Boone and that song of Satan-"You Light Up My Life"...I threw up in my mouth every time I had to spin it back when I was jocking at the station full time....of course it was incredibly popular with lovestruck teeny-boppers....I finally keyed my mic on one night-ripped the accursed thing off the turntable in mid-play and broke the 45 in half.....
This'll cure what ails ya...ask Tim LOL

But i like it! Its not a complaint. And prog rock has meaning. well, sometimes.

Oh, but it is for some folks. The "pretentious lyrics" are often given as a reason why they hate it. As for me, I want something more to my lyrics than the usual pablum offered up. Give me songs based on Heinlein books or about the Manhattan Project or Pictures at an Exhibition instead.

Or that lovely Swedish Prog. :)

Like you, a child of the 80s, Joan Jett's cover was a better version, for me. Still not great, but better.

I don't know why I felt compelled to put this here (Was that an 80's style dress?)

For annoying songs I am thinking of one called "The Final Countdown" - that one was pretty bad "back in the day"

True, and one of those songs that will live forever in sports arenas everywhere ... I think it is illegal to have a timeout in the last minute of a close basketball game and NOT play the opening to The Final Countdown. The soundboard guy could actually get arrested, I think.

Its about a factoryworker named Hanna working at a washing factory in high temperatures and what the singer learnt from her.

What I find pretentious about a lot of Prog Rock is overly complicated pieces of music that are complicated just for the sake of being complicated. I appreciate the musicianship but there is no need to play 1000 notes when you can get your point across with half that.

A couple of my band mates in my last band were huge Dream Theater fans. This often resulted in straight ahead riffs and song structures becoming complicated beasts.
