I am a huge car guy. Wait a minute...I am a real car nut...really into cars... Anyway, I understand the point you are trying to make, but just let it go, brother. It be fictonal. Pure escapism. A much needed and welcome respite from the disaster that is the real, totally fubar-ed mess of a world that exists just outside the book covers.

I have written a sequel to the movie, and tried to be authentic, even going so far as to purchase an owner's and service manual for the '58 Plymouth, but I might have missed something, also.

The engine in that car might be one that passed through my hands at the Trenton Engine Plant, way back in the day. Don't think anyone will be drooling over most of today's cars, fifty years from now.
