The Mercedes mention in Mr. Mercedes is an actual Mercedes and not a Buick--or Rolls Royce, for that matter. Just thought I'd clear that up.

The engine in that car might be one that passed through my hands at the Trenton Engine Plant, way back in the day. Don't think anyone will be drooling over most of today's cars, fifty years from now....I love a car where you can actually get under the hood and TURN a wrench....my '69 is like that....

That might be the [final] assembly plant (I worked for a short time at the Mound Road Assembly plant). Does it say where the engine came from?...our build sheet specifies Lynch Road Plant...
