Was the barbed wire part of the design or the typical "hey a barbed wire tattoo would be cool" idea from teenage years that you end up thinking "now it doesn't fit anything."? My Brother got a football team related tattoo on his foream when he was 16, then by the time he was 21 he had started on what would eventually become a full sleeve of lions, cherry blossoms and background desert rock on the same arm. Luckily for him his tattooist is very good and he covered it very well.

I don't have any but if I could afford one I would get an Alaskan/Canadian wilderness scene with a lone wolf howling at the Aurora Borealis. No idea why.

I'm too scared of pain to get a tattoo. Do any of you have your beloved's name tatoo'd on you? I've been trying to get my husband to do this for me. He says it's the kiss of death for a marriage, but I think it would be the sweetest gesture. A fancy heart with flames and my name on his shoulder..... swoon.

We've been married nearly 23 years, so I feel like we're in the clear.

Holly, after a few minutes, you get a lot of endorfines in your body, to compensate for the pain. I don't like needles at all, but getting tattooed is not like getting a shot. Yes, it does hurt, but not as bad as I thought it would, at least. And the endorfine gives me a natural high, so I actually quite enjoy it.
About a name... I don't know. I don't think I would do it. Maybe after 23 years of marriage, it would feel "safe" :)

Look for a 'home' tattoo artist. See his work, ask around, and if he's good, it will save a lot of cash. My DT one will have 22 hrs of work when it's done and only cost me € 300,-
What???? Seriously 300 Euros, you haven't missed a zero out or anything? My Brother's sleeve costs him £80 per hour, admittedly his artist is one of the best in the city and people do travel a good distance to be tattooed by him, and he has about a 3 month list. He is probably 2+ Grand into his, and still has a few inches to go.

Got any King related ones? Other tattoos? I have a lot of others, some Dark Tower, some not. Here's my Pennywise I got just over a week ago.

Haven't been to the boards here since it changed. There used to be a tattoo thread on the old boards but I couldn't find it here :(
wow that's awesome ... lot of work there now !
