Out in the open on bookshelves downstairs, except for the signed ones. Those are on the main floor in flat-boxes under my bed. For SK and Dean Koontz, I usually buy two hardcovers and one softcover of a particular book in excellent condition and another 'throw-around' copy for reading. I didn't have the funds to do this for the longest time, but since quitting smoking years ago, I've populated my bookshelves at home and recently in my office at work. Though it was for health reasons that I eventually gave up cigarettes, it really came down to either collecting books (and CDs) or smoking. I still cringe at the money I've wasted not focusing on my love of books and music.

My books are on shelves, in boxes and also just lie around on different surfaces in little stacks.... no harm comes to them... well, occasional crumbs have dive-bombed them from time to time but not often or noticeably....

Also I have some EC reprints... pretty sure they're not originals..... ( muskrat and GNTLGNT )
