I grew up with her. Watched every single movie. She received an honorary academy award at the age of 6 and after she got it, she looked at her mom and said, "mommy, can we go home now?"
She was amazing and one of a kind in a sea of child stars.
My favorite movie is the one where she's at a girls school while daddy fights a war. He gets hurt and suffers from amnesia, but the school thinks he's dead and they banish her to the attic to wait on the snooty girls of the school. She makes friends with some Arab guy out her window --he has a monkey-- and she comes home to her Dickensian quarters to find lavish bedding and a roaring fire with delicious platters of food.... Rip Shirley. You took me on delightful journeys.
