I just wanted to post my opinion on Green Mile, not introduce myself to a board, I think that is unfair and unecessary. Anyway...
I never say that the movie is better than the book, but in this case, I do.
When I was about to finish reading The Green Mile, I thought: "Wow, this is Stephen King's masterpiece". But then I read the last pages which added a ton of drama and pure exaggerated tragedy that was not neeeded. If he had ended the book like the movie ended, it would be just perfect. But why did he have to add deaths and tragic accidents which didn't affect the story? I think that King just missed the perfect masterpiece by 10 pages. One thing that the movie didn't. The movie is very faithful to the book and it cut out what wasn't needed, what was in excess, to be worth to the masterpiece King almost created.
Great movie.
