Has anybody seen this one yet? Plan to?

I liked it better than I expected to, but there were some serious holes in the plot. Primarily,
Nobody had to bleed to death. Since the advent of fire and metal, humans have been cauterizing wounds. No matter how serious the gunshot, those not killed outright had at least a CHANCE if they'd slapped hot iron on it. There was a fireplace, and it had pokers.
And secondly,
If Sam Jackson's character knew from the start that something was up with the guy in the barn, why not just kill him out there? Why let him return to the main building and hook back up with his buddies? That savvy character doesn't seem to be the type that would be bothered at all doing so. For that matter, he wouldn't have had a problem shooting the whole bunch of bad guys when he had the chance, then turning them over for their bounties (dead or alive). It doesn't add up that he'd stand around chatting them up when he had a chance to simply shoot them.
Still, all in all, worth watching, if you like western, bounty-hunter type movies.

Might well be Tarantino's best film IMO. It has the sassy dialogue of Pulp Fiction, the intrigue of Reservoir Dogs, the violence of Kill Bill, the retro stylings of Death Proof, the intensity and humour of Inglourious Basterds, the western vibe of Django Unchained, and some of his best characters since Jackie Brown.

I plan to see it and am looking forward to it. I've found that, since I'm getting older, I can wait for these movies to come out on dvd, so that's when I will see it. I stopped going to see movies because I don't enjoy paying my ticket prices to watch commercial ads at the beginning. Something seems wrong with that. Bring back the pre-show cartoons! This is in Canada. Do they show commercial ads in American theatres? Peace, mal.

Don't know about US, but in Russia they show commercial ads before the movie itself.

Something else I just realized about the movie:
There wee 8 people dringing out of one regular old pot of coffee, and it lasted FOREVER. I know in my house, 2 cups and I need to make a new pot. It just doesn't make sense that one pot of coffee would last long enough for 8 people to have coffee, and refills. Not without making more.[spoilers]

Probably not. I haven't really enjoyed a Tarantino movie since Pulp Fiction (though I greatly admired Christoph Waltz in Inglorious Basterds). Good dialogue, generally, but weak plotting.

I strongly recommend seeing it on the biggest screen possible, I don't think DVD will do it justice.

They're doing that here now as well. And I don't mean just trailers (movie ads), but commercials for stuff like Gogurt and Beats by Dre. So lame.
It is slightly the same here, for the first 10 to 15 minutes (SIC!) they show a commercial ads and then - 2-3 upcoming movie trailers. So you have to wait about 20 mins before the movie starts.

I have been (practically) foaming at the mouth for The Hateful Eight but it's still not available on Amazon video. Kurt Russell also made a movie in 2015 (he looks like the same character in both) titled Bone Tomahawk and he mentioned in an interview that he does not want people regarding it as a *horror western*...well it sure as h*ll scared the crap out of me! :O_O:

I loved Hateful Eight. No offense, but I disagree with mentioned plot holes. If it had happened that way, there would have been no film. I loved the atmosphere and the locked room murder mystery vibe. My husband and I had a discussion on the whole jelly bean moment thing, though.

Hi Lepplady, I finally saw this movie on DVD. I was blown away by the cinematography and thought of you during the beginning scene with the close up of the 2 stagecoach horses side by side running and working. That was a beautiful shot. All the best, mal.
