From the good ol Midwest
Good morning! Hope you all had a nice weekend.

We had a nice one, just stayed in and watched it snow and rain and snow some more. I got some good reading time in.

Friday afternoon was interesting, we were out getting our taxes done when kids got home from school. Evan's key broke, so they had to stand outside and wait for us and he also slipped and broke his phone.

Then when we got home I handed my keys to Evan to unlock the door, while we got the littles out of their car seats, saw I had a message from Marti that I could drop the kids off at home if I wanted, Brandon got home early. I had to go back out to the store anyway, so Scott and the boys left on a beer run and I herded the littles and Ali back out to my car to run them home and go to the store.

Get everyone buckled in seats and get in....no keys! Evan hung them up after unlocking the door instead of giving them back to me and I never even went all the way in the house after I saw Marti's message. So I walked out and locked the door with no keys. :facepalm_smiley:

We waited for Scott and the boys to get back. At least it was decent weather Friday and we weren't all freezing! ;-D

Have the post Super Bowl mess in my kitchen to clean up yet this morning.

Have a great day! Big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:
Wow sounds like you had one of those days. Glad it all worked out and the weather wasn't too bad. A big hello to you all. I am trying to catch up on posts! Big hugs and good vibes to you all.

Good morning,

We got between 6-8 inches of snow overnight. Kids are on a 2 hour delay for school. Waiting to see if they go ahead and give them a snow day. But the clock is ticking, if the call does not come in the next 10-15 minutes, they will be going.

We haven't had any snow days yet, wish they weren't so stingy with them. It is Friday, icky outside, and all kinds of illness spreading like wildfire...let the kids have a day.

Seems like anything less than a foot of snow, we have school.

Anyway, Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a great weekend. Big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:

Lol if we had that much snow here Cat, it’d look like the Zombie Apocalypse, especially if the news warned people it was coming. There’d be a mass run on the local Wal-Marts, wrecks out the wazoo, and everything except police and fire departments would shut down...lol

...we haven't had near the weather here that you guys have gotten, and yet we have missed a crap-ton of school days....combination of VERY rural roads and when snow or ice is a problem on a Thursday, they just close the schools for Friday-so as not to have to bring the heat up in the buildings for one day.....

Well we do the run on grocery store bit here, too. I went Wed afternoon because I knew this was coming. ;-D But, it was time to go shopping anyway for me, I didn't do it only because of the storm...but I have been known to!

I'm sure there will be a few accidents today too, this is the most snow at once we've gotten so far this winter. We have been averaging about 3 inches every time so far.

We waited until 6:30 to get our 16 yr old up. Bus is usually here at 6:50 and at 16, he still just lets his alarm blare and sleeps right through it. Told him he overslept and giggled while he whined about not having time for a shower and waited until he was dressed to tell him it was a 2 hr delay. His reaction was priceless. :applause:

And the other 2 usually leave about 8:20, and Ty (11) was ready and hollering at his sister it was time to go. He neither heard us say they had a delay or noticed that Evan was still here. Powers of observation are strong!! :facepalm_smiley: ;-D

I like what you did to the 16 YO...lol...
When I was 911 dispatcher I can remember during storms we would have 40-50 traffic accidents backed up on our screens and about 12 officers working on a shift. These are non injury accidents I mean, just property damage. People would call up and SCREAM at us because no one had shown up to work their accident afte about 30 minutes. There’s a blizzard going on and they think there’s is the only traffic accident in the whole city....lol

Lots of rural bus routes here, too. I'm guessing that is the primary reason for the delay this morning. I think most times they wait for bus drivers to say what the conditions are when making these decisions. It is a rare thing to have a snow day here! Sometimes I think they are ridiculous...better to make it up than have something catastrophic happen.

We only have 1 built in snow day in the schedule, that is how rare it is to call school off.

I'm making a beef stew in my slow cooker with eye of round, carrots, onions, potatoes etc. Its on for 8 hours on low and I browned the meat first with salt and pepper.

School still a go but Evan's bus has not shown up yet. It is about 20 minutes late at this point.

So no rest for the wicked eh? ;)

My son is off today too but it's not due to the weather - they just gave him a day off with pay.

Just started a loaf of oatmeal bread and decided to put cinnamon and raisins in it this time.

TGIF!

....Wow!.....state here gives us 5 I believe still....not real sure cuz all mine are out except the grandbabies....and it's not in heard of for Superintendents we've had here, to get in their vehicles of a bad morning-and go check out routes themselves before making a decision....
