Why do you ask, Neese?
I don't know - I am just totally confused now (as usual!)

I had a very productive day today - 55 transcriptions typed and one hour and 28 minutes worth of dictations. (I had all the fast talkers today).

See y'all later on here after I get back home. It is time to go get all sweaty!

Pete Rose should be admitted to the Hall of Fame.
...I most whole-heartedly agree!...he should be admitted on the basis of his playing career-period....what he did as a manager should have no bearing, coz there are more than a few already enshrined at Cooperstown-who had some unsavory character flaws themselves, that had nothing to do with their athletic abilities...

I would only even consider letting Pete Rose in, if and only if, all the other players in the history of baseball that were left out due to suspicions of wrong behavior, but never were proven to be guilty, were let in first. Then let Pete wait the same period. Let see, some of those 1918 players who were accused but never convicted are still waiting ... so Pete's got almost 100 years, and counting, to wait his turn. He has lied over, and over, and over again, about his involvement in his gambling violations. I don't think to this day he has fully confessed, explained, or apologized for what he did.
JMHO.
Lost all respect for the man, while he was playing, when I saw him intentionally 'cleat' a player on his way into 2nd base. Any further comment from me would have to go into one of the other forum categories! :zip_it: OK, I'll shut up now. :a24:

I'm not sure any athlete hasn't done something ugly in their careers, whether we know about it or not. And sure, we should let other players in on their playing ability, not personal lives. I'm just sick of the hypocrisy. We reward wife beaters and shun a gambler. And I think???? it was proven he didn't bet on any of his own games, so his performance in any particular game had no bearing on his winnings. I think???? Set me straight if I remember that wrong.

...you are correct, and just for the record-I never implied that ONLY Pete should be considered, others should be given their due-based solely on their play-not their sterling character...

Okay all. I've attempted to sift through this massive thread but I just keep getting distracted. I think I have the gist though. Can someone summarize what you guys have done so far? Where you've met up, what you did, who went, etc etc. Unless, of course, this is a what happens at King Kon stays at King Con type of situation. :heheh:

...I'll take a stab at it, since I've been to both so far...for some time, a number of members here had bandied about the idea of a get-together, somewhere King related so that we might get to know one another and experience the lands of the King...2013 a number of us finally got together in Maine for the first ever Kon, toured Bangor and had a great time...this past summer, I invited everyone to Ohio for Kon 2 and a tour of the Mansfield Reformatory...the gathering is fluid depending upon geography and finances...the group that attended in Mansfield voted for a Kon every other year, making the next one in 2016-destination Colorado and the "Overlook"...others have talked about a gathering in 2015 as well...by it's nature-it will fragment, coz not all of us are going to be able to meet every year...it is an unforgettable gathering of good and great folks though...I have treasured every minute...

In time we might end up with factions; Odds vs Evens, for example. Then, if a member attends two Kons in a row, that'll be grounds for excommunication from his/her faction, and said member would be tempted to start their own faction: The AllKons or, alas, the NonKons.
