I feel that the IOC has let these games down, yes - Brazil should have their facilities in order and up to code but where is the governing body taking responsibility? Why at the last minute, is everything still less than acceptable and the IOC shrugging their shoulders and shaking heads in disappointment.
Should checks of progress not have been made at multiple stages to ensure everything was as it should be - with time to spare?

I cant say I hope they cancel the games, the economic repercussions for the country alone would be catastrophic. I also ADORE watching the games myself (its all about me) and think of the many athletes that will never see this opportunity again.

Anywho, bit of luck and an awful lot of international attention, lets hope they bring things up to acceptable before the weekend. 11,000 athletes with the runs isn't gonna make it any better.:bad_smelly:

Seems like once the bribes have been paid, the IOCs job is over.

Barring any catastrophe, the athletes will draw the attention away from the problems once the games begin. I hope everything goes well because the games are a great and important event. But when the games are over, something needs to be done about this process.

Of course, it's too late at this point but wouldn't have made sense for the IOC to step in and at least move the triathlon and rowing events to a different location (and anything else that takes place on that nasty body of water)? This water problem has been an issue since the day the Olympics was awarded to Rio and Rio said it would be cleaned up. So, maybe a year ago, the IOC could have realized it wasn't going to happen and moved those water events somewhere else.

Reporters seemed aware a year ago that Rio was not in track.

The US Women's Soccer Team started up last night with a win over New Zealand (haha Flake!). Apparently every time the US goalie touched the ball the crowed sarcastically chanted ZIKA!!! Apparently Ms. Solo (the goaltender) was less than flattering in a few social media posts about the ZIKA concerns she has.

Considering what's floating in the water, what are they going to yell at the rowers? ;-D
