Why do people say how are you doing? Knowing full well that they could care less, just a silly thing that we say to each other.
That. How tempted am I to reply sometimes "bloody awful thanks for asking, absolutely crappy day, but you don't want to hear that do you, you just want me to give a little "fine thanks" cos actually you don't give a ****"

You speak true. And we hold the memories dearly. Have a friend who is presently dealing with the passing of a loved one, and trying to move forward. (((PITH)))

the day my ma(grandmother ) died, i smoked 100 cigarettes, i just felt out of it as if this was a dream. Try and help and be there for your friend when she needs you.

So sorry about the passing of your grandmother. Friends are so important at time like that- even cyber ones. Always know that those who pass are still with us in our hearts and memories.

The people where I work say I "think too much," as if it's a bad thing for a paramedic to think a lot. The person who said it does cardiac care as his area of special interest too. But I say 'which would you rather have: someone who thinks too much in a cardiac emergency or someone like him, who appears to pride himself for not thinking too much?'
I don't think as much as almost everyone on this message board. I wonder what he would decide about how they process ideas.
I always feel as if I'm slightly lagging behind everyone else when it comes to thinking in an intellectual way - or thinking much at all. But when it comes to my work, I believe you couldn't think enough if you did it nonstop.
But maybe that goes back to why I chose the profession in the first place, which WASN'T for the reason some people think; I saw my sister dying in front of my face when I was 13 and she was 7. Paramedics saved her life. I wanted to do the same thing for other families.

I love your story on how you became a paramedic. It sounds like you witnessed a miracle. I know that a lot of people scoff at that word today, but I don't. And I also don't think you can think too much when you do your job. You save lives everyday and that is admirable. I hope if I even need attention in that manner that I have a paramedic who thinks a lot as opposed to one who doesn't think at all.
