Time Capsule from 1795 to Be Opened

Why put the time capsules from those two eras back? Isn’t that the idea of a time capsule... to allow future generations to get a little glimpse of their era? If anything, put the contents of both of them on display in the Massachusetts State House for visitors to view and appreciate... and put another time capsule, from today, in the cornerstone so someone can open it up 100 years from now and get an idea of things we thought would interest future generations from our time.

I can see it going both ways ... but regardless, soon we will know what is in there. Hopefully they will carefully document it, at least.

Ooh, you know what would be cool? To create reproductions of what's in there and then re-inter the capsule (in a form that should be safer and last a bit longer than what they had available in 1855, when it was first re-interred). Best of both worlds.
