So a few of my co workers and I were talking, and we got to pondering about people who don't tip. Not saying anything bad, just wondering why some folks don't.
It seems that everyone knows to tip wait staff, but what about other service professions?
How do you decide who to tip, and who doesn't get tipped?
What say you?

I always tip in a restaurant. I tip the pizza delivery guy (but usually I just order online and go pick it up). I don't know if one is supposed to tip in that situation or not? What about if you order food to go from a restaurant? Is one supposed to tip? What about when one gets a massage?

I tip the massage therapist, and the pizza delivery person. I've never tipped if I pick up my own to go order.

I usually follow Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs advice when it comes to tipping :)

Seriously though, I typically will tip hairstylists, taxi / Uber drivers, waitstaff, and doormen at the hotel (if I have cash on me when checking in). I always forget to tip the maid service at the hotel though :(

Oh yeah, forgot about food delivery people! I tip those guys. I will also leave my change (coins) at Dunkin Donuts or local pizza shops if they have a tip jar.

Oh, I forgot that I tip when I get a haircut, too.

But seriously, I tip food service workers whenever that is an option. I also tip for hair, nail, and relaxation massage services. I don't tip for medical massage where insurance is being billed because I don't think they are technically allowed to accept tips in that situation.

When in doubt, I think of whether or not they are in an industry that allows their employer to pay a reduced wage based on the expectation that they would receive tips. If the answer is yes, I make sure to tip. I HATE that anybody is paid less than a living wage and don't want to be complicit in the exploitation of their labor.

I tip all the usual places (restaurants, hotels etc) and I always tip workers that work on my house (unless it's the owner of the company doing the work). For instance when I had windows put in, I tipped the two guys that did the work. When I had my shutters installed, I tipped those guys. Those kind of workers work really hard in the heat and rarely get tipped, so I always do.

I learned a lesson once and make sure that I actually hand money to each person. A few years back when I had new windows put in, the workers were getting ready to leave and one of them was in their truck and one was in the house with me doing the paperwork. I pulled out two 50s and handed them to the guy in the house with me and told him one was for him and one was for his partner. A year or so later, I was having some more work done by the same company and one of the two same guys (the guy who had been waiting in the truck) showed up with a new guy. They got done and I gave them both a 50 and the guy that had been to my house before said, "thanks, that's the first time anyone has done that." I didn't bother to tell him that I had given his partner a 50 for him last time. ;-D

I tip to the same people as most here... except for massage therapists. I have never had, nor ever will have a massage. That’s just weird. I tip guys who deliver appliances and power equipment that require set-up. I also tip the mail carrier and trash collectors at Christmas. Whenever I get a hair cut I tip largely if the stylist is friendly and engaging. Usually almost equal to the price of the cut. Last time I got a cut the young girl that cut my hair couldn’t believe the size of my tip. Seems it was the most she ever got.
