Blue Jays are beautiful, but they have a mean streak....they fight with the crows for the black cherries in the back yard......and win!

Mean little buggers those bluebirds, although ours are Eastern Bluebirds. I have three bluebird boxes on the property. "Mr Nasty" comes back every year to one particular box. When I’m on the tractor mowing the yard, he continually dive-bombs me whenever I get near. I have to wear a cowboy hat when mowing the lawn when there are eggs or chicks. My wife has filmed the encounters and thinks it’s hilarious.

Pileated Woodpeckers visit us digging for grubs in the ground that still has rotted remains of an old stump.

Last year a rabbit made its nest in one of our large flower boxes. In the evenings she would take the babies out for some exercise. Then one evening we heard a commotion going on. A Great Horned Owl was feasting on it’s catch. Oh well, mother nature at work.

The variety of birds we get around here is truely amazing. Helps I guess that we have several feeders each with a different mix of foods to attract various types.

My favorite bird I often see flying low overhead at a lake I keep a boat on:

Turkey buzzards are a way of life in FL. They love to land on the roof, take down cable lines when a group sit on it, circle around the sky -- all wildlife runs for cover.
I never thought about that... Turkey vultures are heavy enough to bring down cable lines  Last month we drove past some vultures feeding on something on the side of the road and there was one turkey vulture in the middle of 5 or 6 black vultures. It really stood out from the rest... It looked like it was in charge lol
