Sundrop's favorite Van Gogh (the mulberry tree) is one she saw with me at the Norton Simon museum in Pasadena.

I didn't tell her where we were going, other than to point out the building from a distance, and to say that we were going to go see some good art. She was all for that.

We got there and paid for our tickets, and I led her into the first room of the permanent collection....and watched as her eyes fell out of her head. She was looking at roughly $40 million dollars' worth of Degas bronze statues, most of them from his dancers series. And then came all the Impressionists and Expressionists on the walls, about three rooms full of the real McCoys.

It's always fun to watch someone else's reaction to really famous, recognizeable art - and when it's a surprise for them, it's even better. Good memory, that. :)
