Perhaps this is stupid question but since Owen meany is your fave have you read The Tin Drum by Gunther Grass? Is said to have inspired Irving. Havent read either i'm afraid but i've seen the movie made from Grass book. The boy in that book has the same initials as the boy in Irvings book. Oscar something i can't for the moment remember. I haven't read that book. I think he directly references it in... A Widow for One Year, I think? It's been a while, but it's clear that he has a lot of respect for Grass as an author. Wouldn't be surprised if he found inspiration from him or his books

(I put the favourite video thread or theme song thread on "Ignore" - it was taking too long to load and freezing up my screen.
