I read the following samples on my Kindle and hope to order the books in a few weeks. All three are outstanding.
Cutting For Stone- Abraham Verghese
Humboldt's Gift- Saul Bellow
The Ponder Heart- Eudora Welty

I'm still reading Remembrances of Things Past by Marcel Proust.

I'm rereading The Long Walk and Roadwork.
Love The Long Walk! And I think Roadwork is pretty underrated.

Yeah, I had forgotten what a striking opening paragraph that was in The Long Walk. Throughout the book there is a stomach-churning realism.
And yes, Roadwork is underrated, even by King himself in the 'Why I Was Bachman' section. Maybe he holds it in higher esteem these days, I don't know.
I hope you check in with your progress as you read Christine.

What I found interesting about Roadwork is how little it was talked about, even among King fans. It's not his best, by any means, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

And I'll be sure to check in during my read of Christine. I'm excited to get back to some vintage King.

Loved Christine. One of my favourites, most definitely.

Still reading Lisey's Story at the moment and still enjoying it and then I have a bunch of re-reads to look forward to. It's been quite a while since I originally read them so it'll be nice to get reacquainted with some King classics.

I got the 'Bachman Omnibus' so I'm going to read the Long Walk, also I got a 1960 edition of I am Legend from a 2nd hand bookstore for $7. Also a book about the covers on pulp magazines back in the 1930's/40's/50's. I like the covers of the books back then compared to now.
