I'm reading 'A Tale of Two Cities'. I've been on a Dickens jag for a while now. Just finished 'David Copperfield'. He reminds me of King in how his characters are drawn and how they interface with each other. A heckuva good story teller. I may read 'A Christmas Carol' in time for Christmas, if I'm lucky.
The ebook is free on Amazon.

I started A Tale Of Two Cities but it didn't ring my bell. I did enjoy Oliver Twist and I always read A Christmas Carol this time of year. One of my favorites.

Just finished Song of Kali. It was pretty good. At least he got most of it right but there are other, nicer, aspects of Kali. Oh well. Now re-reading another Discworld; The Fifth Elephant.

Gather The Daughters (Jennie Melamid) I picked this up at the library on a whim. It might be a dystopia, it might be an alternate history, it might be speculative fiction...or maybe it's none of the above! A group of families live on a small island, having been moved there by 'the ancestors' after a terrible event. Everything off of the island is called something like the wasteland. Very primitive religion, strict traditional gender roles, etc. etc, except the ancestors are worshipped far more than God. I'm about half way through, and I still haven't figured out if the crisis situation was real or if some looney moved his followers there and the outside world is just fine (a Shamalamadingdong "The Village" scenario). Good book so far, if what happens to the daughters wasn't so damn horrifying.

Any opinions on John Jakes?? I've read his North and south trilogy (in swedish translation) many years ago remember liking the first very much but thinking that it started to slow down somewhere in the second part. I've decided to give them a reread in original language. How are his Kent chronicles? What is it? Good? Other Books? Any opinion appreciated.
The North and South trilogy ebooks are $3.99 at Amazon today. This is not an opinion, but an actual fact.

Thought of you while reading Loaded, GNTLGNT. Would love to know how you feel about this one.
...final opinion?....very good story....it could easily serve as an "anti-gun" treatise, but I never felt Joe was approaching the novella from that standpoint....many things within the tale could serve as metaphors for "Loaded"....

I really enjoyed Skipping Christmas. It shows Grisham's humorous side, which you don't see too often in his legal thrillers (although the character Lucien, the alcoholic silent partner of Jake, who appears in A Time To Kill and the sequel Sycamore Row adds touches of humor). I never did see the movie version of Skipping Christmas.

Approaching the end of my Firestarter re-read (about 170 pages to go) and I'm enjoying it even more than I expected. Had been so long since I first read it that I forgot quite a bit.

Next on the list will be Lisey's Story as I haven't read that before and I'm eager to see what I think.
I enjoyed a long delayed re reading of Firestarter myself. I remembered very little of the story, had written it off as crap and was very surprised.
