Algernon Blackwood - WikipediaI guess it's a novella; my Kindle says it is 81 pages. I think he did write a couple novels, though.
Thanks, I'm about to download more of his short stories since that is mostly what I'm looking for.

KRF,did you notice the similarity of Mad Dog Summer to The Green Mile? I mean the part of the guy holding the murdered kids,or kid,it is uncomfortably close to each other, don't know who wrote their story first but man,it was kind of weird how they seem to be the same..Was By Bizarre Hands your first Lansdale book? If so then you have great readings ahead of you, Cody!! I loves me some Lansdale! He's another writer than can write in just about any genre he chooses: Westerns, horror, sci-fi, steam punk, thriller, comics, etc.
Happy travels!
I am on a journey to The Tower; it's my third...
Which, you'd think, would mean I'd stop and savor every word;
Slow it down. No need to rush - I know how this all ends.
But, that's not the way that I'm re-reading them, my friends.
Once again, these tales of Roland's quest swept me away.
Right now I'm in Mejis but I'll finish there today.
I expect to reach the Calla later on tonight.
I can't seem to pace myself; I've given up the fight.
I'm all in. Absorbed (again) by Sai King's masterpiece.
Not until the journey's end will my obsession cease.
Therefore, you may not hear from me for a week or so.
Hope that you and yours stay well, but now I gotta go.
Mad Dog Summer made its first appearance in the anthology '999' edited by Al Sarrantonio. The Green Mile was published in 1996, so ol' Joe has got some 'splainin' to do!!KRF,did you notice the similarity of Mad Dog Summer to The Green Mile? Do you think it's because it was written by two people? I got the large type version from the library and I was trying to figure out which chapters were written by whomStill slogging through Sleeping Beauties. I think this is the first King book that I just don't have the pull to get back to reading it.
It sure doesn't have that usual 'Steve's voice' feel to it. I just can't seem to read more than a few chapters at a time before I put it down.Do you think it's because it was written by two people? Lucky you - getting a signed copy!Neesy - I just bought that Tom Hanks short story collection. I found a signed copy at Barnes & Noble and splurged. I haven't read it yet - how is it?
I recently finished The Nest - it was OK - kind of like a Lifetime movie, but I'm on a brain break - so it worked out OK. I'm reading Amy & Isabelle by Elizabeth Strout - it's a 6 of 10. But it doesn't keep me up reading late, so that's OK too.
I just ordered this from Amazon - hoping it's good - should be in by the weekend.
I could use some good book suggestions. There's a few SK books I own but still haven't read: Black House, The Wind Through the Keyhole.
Hey, y'all!
Agreed. One of my least favorite SK novels. It has its merits, but I felt it could have been cut in half and still told the same story. It sure doesn't have that usual 'Steve's voice' feel to it. I just can't seem to read more than a few chapters at a time before I put it down.
I have about 200 pages left to go.Agreed. One of my least favorite SK novels. It has its merits, but I felt it could have been cut in half and still told the same story.
one page turn after another.......I have about 200 pages left to go.
I felt exactly the same. “Slogging” is a good word to describe reading that book. It was like reading the dictionary, only less exciting. I felt the same reading Joe Hill’s The Fireman. Too many characters that I cared nothing about.Still slogging through Sleeping Beauties. I think this is the first King book that I just don't have the pull to get back to reading it.
