Working through The Cuckoo's Calling (Galbraith). So far I like it, especially that I'm over halfway through and I still have no idea who the murderer might be. A few members mentioned that they thought the private detectives in this and Mr. Mercedes were similar--I don't get that vibe at all. One niggle: repeated use of the word 'woken'. Stops me every time as my editor brain screams, "AWAKENED"! (lol). Is 'woken' considered proper in the UK?

I stopped in the middle of The Cuckoo's Calling when I got my ARC of Revival. I'll pick it up again after I've finished Revival. I felt the same way as you about any similarity between the two detectives--I didn't see any whatsoever.

Both are flawed ex-detectives with a rich history that needs to be explained. Both are compelling characters.
