You just blew your cover drongo.
No, Cappy, I didn't. You always call me ageist, when I make a disparing remark about you. I was giving you a taste of yer own damn medicine.

Only just started it but so far I would say typical Clive Barker imagination, I've loved everything I've read of his except Coldheart Canyon, I didn't like that one but I've read Great and Secret Show, Everville and Weaveworld a few times.I found it sort of... ok. What do you think?
I'm not the big Atwood authority here, Skimom is, but for me it would be her Maddaddam trilogy. Oryx and Crake, The Year of the Flood and Maddaddam. In that order.I got the chance to see Margaret Atwood speak about words and language. I really enjoyed her and she's so smart! I feel so dumb when smart people talk, she had such a wide range of knowledge and spoke so confidently.
My question to those of you who have read Atwood, I have read only The Handmaid's Tale and absolutely loved it. What other Atwood book would you recommend to me and why?
Thanks, bought the first 2 of those last night.I'm not the big Atwood authority here, Skimom is, but for me it would be her Maddaddam trilogy. Oryx and Crake, The Year of the Flood and Maddaddam. In that order.
I love Margaret Atwood! So glad you got to see her talk. I'm a bit jealous! I agree with Kurben that the MaddAddam trilogy is a must. Cat's Eye is also wonderful, though it is not one of her dystopian novels. Thanks, bought the first 2 of those last night.
Thanks. She was really interesting and funny.I love Margaret Atwood! So glad you got to see her talk. I'm a bit jealous! I agree with Kurben that the MaddAddam trilogy is a must. Cat's Eye is also wonderful, though it is not one of her dystopian novels.
I'm a bit curious about about the Blind Assassin and Alias Grace. Havent read them though. Any good?I love Margaret Atwood! So glad you got to see her talk. I'm a bit jealous! But, Mom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cappy and I switched avatars and proceeded to 'be' each other............what happened on this thread last night??....
I liked them. The Penelopiad was really interesting--probably my next favorite after Handmaid and the the Madaddams. Her last book of linked short stories, Stone Mattress, was very well done, as well. She wrote a zombie story a year or two ago with a co-writer that was an interesting cowork. I've misplaced the title in my noggin somewhere, but it was published exclusively on Wattpad.I'm a bit curious about about the Blind Assassin and Alias Grace. Havent read them though. Any good?
disparing
Do you think she draws her inspiration from real life?Finished Tabby's The Book of Reuben-- liked it, didn't love it. Most of her male characters are sex-crazed and her female characters are short-tempered. Sigh.
April was going to be a month for books by female authors, but the Tower beckoned. Almost finished with The Gunslinger-- what a quick read.
That's an interesting thought-- and one I've had many times while reading her novelsDo you think she draws her inspiration from real life?
Oh boy! - all of them, I guess.I got the chance to see Margaret Atwood speak about words and language. I really enjoyed her and she's so smart! I feel so dumb when smart people talk, she had such a wide range of knowledge and spoke so confidently.
