Just finished, Bazaar. The intro to the final selection put a lump in my throat. I could barely swallow by the end of the story...
I hear ya. The part about it maybe being the 'finest sunset of my life' made me choke up alittle. It seems that all of the stories in Bazaar have one theme- death. Or maybe I'm just feeling it more since it's only been alittle over a month since my own Mom died, I don't know. Just seems that these stories are hitting me in the heart more than any of his others......

Read A Simple Plan when it came out in paperback, mostly because of the SK endorsement. I loved it from page one. A grand slam!
I know! Had to wait quite a few years for the follow-up The Ruins and for me it was just alright. Smith didn't break any new grounds with this story at all. I was expecting something so much better.

My sincere condolences, krf. I'm strangely morose today so it was especially poignant.

About reading i spent a lazy yesterday in bed reading Double Star by Heinlein. Great SF story from The 50 ties. Started the Lifeship by Clifford Simak after that.
OH, and a tip for those of you that like Tarzan. Philip Jose Farmer wrote some good Tarzan books with a SF twist. Lord of the trees, Tarzan alive and Lord Tyger come to mind. Very entertaining.

Have you ever seen a movie called "The Brave Little Toaster"?

In my hands and eyes at the moment; Avenue of Mysteries, by John Irving. Night at the Fiestas, by Kirsten Valdez Quade and just starting My Brilliant Friend, by Elena Ferrante. I could very well have 3 brilliant books on the go at once.

Finished Lifeship by Simak and Farmer In The Sky by Heinlein. I do like the oldies in sf. They are usually welltold and not 600 pages long. More like between 200 and 300 which is good. These authors know when to write the end under a story. It is allowed to flott away.

Kurben, if someone paid me a dollar for every book you read I could probably quit my full time job. Lord, you read a lot of books! How do you find the time? ;-D
