I've been wondering about this series for a while, and I lucked up in the thrift shop and found 3 - so I started the first right away. I'm liking it so far. Not "un-put-downable", but a book I look forward to at the end of my day. Anyone have an opinion on them? I really like child narrators and Flavia is a sassy smart gal. So far, so good.

I remember all three of them, our book club read them. My intention was to read the first one but it just didn't call out to me.

That's was my cousin's review too - she just didn't enjoy it - read the first for her book club and never bothered with the others. Sometimes I like a book that I can come and go with - Anne Tyler novels are like that for me. They're just kind of "day in the life" of some mundane folks.

I'm juggling The Bazaar of Bad Dreams now with a re-read of Kinky Friedman's Armadillos & Old Lace ... funny, in some ways Muskrat reminds me of him .. but when I got into it again after all this time, Musky, you're way, way better. The Kinksah kicks, but you leave him in the dry gulch Texas dust ....
:applause: I love Kinky Friedman! Haven't read anything of his in a while, but now I may have to do so. A Case of Lonestar was my first by him. And now that you've said it, I can seem the Muskrat tendencies!!!

Just finished a re-read of Eyes of the Dragon. Now I'm supposed to start our book club's February selection, My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante. Wish me luck!
