Please let me know how you like it, MM. I really liked King of Lies and Last Child (especially), but wasn't so impressed with Down River. I've had Iron House in my Amazon cart for a while now, but can't seem to click it to make a purchase.

To me Danie . . .this is his best so far . . .read it and I think you will agree. Really good.

It took me two tries at Swamplandia as for me there was an odd cadence to the beginning. And I think the red Seth is fine, though I do wish nothing but ill for a certain character.

I think I will get it because of the location . . .it's in the South, right. That I can get . . .if I have to read it twice then I will not think of it as a good read. Don't have time for that . . .too many books . . .no time . . .can't do re-reads and that's because my recall is overwhelming until I bore easily.

Having this 'gift' is great and it's horrible as well because I don't forget anything and it seems that the older I get the more I smucking remember.

Seems there's more bad than good in the world.

Forgive my ignorance (or stupidity) here but, alien trilogy? Sk has an alien trilogy?
LOL--not officially :) I'm talking about Tommyknockers, From a Buick 8, and Dreamcatcher (I suppose Under the Dome would fit here, too, but I've only read it once--I want to give it another chance). Aliens do nothing for me. Not scary, not interesting, nada; just a matter of personal taste. I know many people who love these stories.

Starting Justin Cronin's The Twelve! It's a buddy read with some pals on GR, I'm psyched! Been waiting all month for it :D
O, ya, thats good! You should read Wool, Hugh Howey. so complex, so intricate so um, It swallowed me up and I didn't come out until I was done. Yep. thats what it was like. End of the world sci fi. good enough I want to tell everyone. so, what's a buddy read? Do you share the cost of the download? Yes, I am ignorant of everything! A

Just finished Love and Treasure by Ayelet Waldman. Its story revolves around the Jewish refugees in Salzburg in 1945 and the so-called "Gold Train" full of the belongings confiscated from Hungarian Jews before they were deported to the camps. It's a thriller, mystery, historical and love story wrapped into a very enjoyable package. But it does raise many questions, so many of them unanswerable.

About half-way through Double Feature. It's quite good and reminds me of John Irving and Richard Russo.

Going to B&N today to use the last of my gift cards to get Greg Iles new book, Natchez Burning, first in a trilogy, hubba hubba!!

But maybe tomorrow, have a book from the library by Harry Dolan, Bad Things Happen, had been struggling with it until last night when it grabbed me and now I am intrigued. But this week, Mr. Iles, fer sure fer sure.

I thought the same, with a bit of Wes Anderson thrown into the mix. I liked it--some parts had me really laughing--but the hilarity got a bit brittle and forced near the end. I absolutely can't wait for his next one, though--he's not close to his prime yet. I absolutely LOVED his book of short stories. SO much promise in that young man. :)

I finished that 2nd Lee Child story, #11 Jack Reacher...some lame title, something about bad luck and questions. Good story. Some of the same plot elements as in that 1st one I read, #18. I''ll give him another go as I enjoyed both stories and I like some of the expressions he comes up with. This Lee Child guy, he writes "eight by four boards" for what is meant to be...what is commonly referred to "four by eight sheets of plywood...sheets of OSB...drywall/Sheetrock". So he's in that same camp as Russo with his "lengthwise running foundation beams". Heh! We all have our pet peeves, hey? I wonder if Lee Child has some carpenter wanker offering free advice? Bad advice. Heh! I hope so!

And I started that Heinlein story, Podkayne of Mars. Heinlein's narrator is a...young girl raised on Mars...she has that British vibe going for her...she has not reckoned, as yet and I dearly hope she does. An okay story. Wish I had another Lee Child story to read, though.
