Finished Doctor Sleep last night, started Carrie this morning. I figured I'd try to whiz through Carrie since it's pretty short while I'm waiting on one of his newer novels that I missed out on to arrive here. Some of the novels were a little over my head when I read them when I was younger, so I'm trying to re read most everything of his in between catching up on the epic works I missed out on.
I will say, I loved Doctor Sleep! I could not put it down, I've never finished a 500 page book that fast. I'm a fast reader, but I like to enjoy the novels for as long as possible, but not here lately lol. That's the type of book though you have plenty of places to stop, the story was constantly escalating and you had so many different events to look forward to, I wish now I had made it last a little longer lol.

I really enjoyed Life After Life. It's such an emotional ride. The lump in your throat is suddenly coughed up when you laugh out loud.

Since you are a male and you give it a very high mark, I will read this tale. I really didn't think I would like it but you have sold me and that's because I've noticed your taste in other books. Since you enjoyed it so much, I think I will as well.

Thanks @EMARX!

Couldn't find my copy of 'Salem's Lot for the longest time-been trying to reread it for months now! Read Ridley Pearson's "Killer Weekend" I found at the dollar store in hardcover (my mom collects his books). It was okay. I miss his characters Lou Boldt & Daphne Matthews. Those books were so fun & leisurely. That's okay to say since he's SK's band mate, right?! :smile-new:

Thank you kindly, Madam.
I've read a handful of her books but this one stood out. The plot contrivance, for lack of a better term could fail miserably but the characters are so strong and I couldn't help but fall for them. Enjoy!!

I like Kate Atkinson and had been wondering about this one - I'll read it soon as well. Someone else on here gave it a thumbs up too -Shasta maybe?

Hey, MM, let me know how you like the book. I downloaded it on my Kindle some time ago, but haven't read it yet...

I will Danie . . .if I like this one I'll read more of her work. I never thought to read any of her books because they are si-fi and I don't care much for that. My friend knows that and she explained that it was not like the other si-fi tales. I trust her because she really knows me well.

Do you read sci-fi with wi-fi or a hi-fi? :biggrin-new:

Reading Full Dark No Stars now. Already read "1922" and loved every second of it. Would like to see it made into a movie, as long as they kept with the story. I couldn't put it down! I think 1922 is like 193 pages in paperback, and I whizzed through it today. I used to love to take it slow and make the stories last but I get so caught up in them now I just can't stop. It's like watching an epic movie, you don't stop movies in the middle and finish them later lol.

I can see what everyone meant by it being pretty gruesome, but I'm loving it so far! This could be an EPIC movie! About to start " Big Driver " in a little while, I have high hopes for that one!
