I thought it was okay. I really like Andrew Garfield as Spiderman, and love Jamie Foxx in anything, but the story felt kind of…unfocussed. They really got Spiderman's smartassery, though--lol. I missed that in the Tobey Maguire Spiderman movies--they made him so sincere and earnest, and in the comics Spiderman is always joking.
I did know about Gwen, though, from the comics. Her death was way worse there, though--speared by a rocket thingy shot at Spiderman by the Goblin.

IKR spiderman cracks me up calling him sparkles lmao. They had Rhino some what different from the comics as well.

WAY different! I hate the metal costumes (even when the comic costume is silly--lol) because they're so defeatable. Like Rhino in the movie: use an electromagnet. BOOM. He's unable to move and defeated. So many of the suits that they create for the movies are like that. They want to be all high-tech, but it just makes the villains vulnerable to all sorts of mechanical failure or attacks. Or Magneto (lol).

Good for you - I have been trying to reflect on my life and past behaviour etc. as well. We should continue learning and adapting through our whole lives, or else we stagnate.
So true Neesy. There's this quote that's often attributed to Einstein " The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result" that's the basis of my reflection at the moment. May the force be with you too Neesy :m_petals:

The last movie i watched was Elysium with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. Seemed as they both was in routine mood. Not bad, not good.
I thought that, too. It was there (lol). I don't know if you watched it in English, but Jodie Foster's accent when I watched it seemed downright WEIRD. I don't know what the heck she was trying for, but it didn't work.

In sweden they never dub the movies. It is always the original language spoken. With english i have learnt to watch without subtitles. Think she was trying for an Elysian accent caused by living in another place than earth for a long time. I admit it was no success. Normally i think she is one of the best actresses. But action isn't really her deal. Thriller goes well, Drama, Comedy and musical she has also done well (even though it was a long time ago she did musical.

So are you a big fan of the comics and movies then?
I am :) Spiderman is my favorite, but I've read a lot of other comics & prefer Marvel to DC. What they've done with the X-Men movies is a shame. By focussing on Wolverine, they make it a teenage white boy franchise, whereas in the comics he is one of a varied crew, all shapes, sizes, and nationalities. And the women in the comics are at least equally as badass in the comics as the men, but on the movies they're mainly window dressing for the boys. It's irritating.

We were watching Riverworld on Syfy (what a stupid name for the channel) last night. Grandma was restless.

I'd had the original book and series recommended to me back in the '70s, if I remember right, but never got to it. This miniseries was enjoyable. Four hours of it. But I got tired and went to bed before resolution. Grandma, bless her, stayed to the end and then filled me in. Said it was good.

Rocky 1

rockyatthetopofthesteps.jpg

I watch the Rocky movies every so often, even more so since I've taken on boxing 4 months ago. Whenever I feel down I watch them all one after the other it gives me an amazing boost of motivation. Rocky rocks.

I'd better not p*ss you off then, or else you'll be all

Are you really sure about that? I've read spiderman too and as i remember it she fell from a bridge thrown, or something by green goblin. Wasn't the goblin that had the gruesume end?

Yeah, she fell from a bridge, and Spiderman shot a web at her to save her, and broke her neck. Loved that story when I was a younger kid (my school library had it). Called "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" if I recall correctly.

I'll look it up. I remember her being speared, but I could definitely be wrong. It's been decades since I last read that comic :)

You are exactly right! I misremembered (so much for the persistence on memory--lol). Thanks for the reminder :) Now I want to go get my old comics out of storage and see what else I'm remembering wrong.

Not watching anything right now, but this morning I watched The Incredible Hulk (70s TV series version) as I ate my breakfast.
(It was on The Horror Channel. I mean...why? And later, The "Horror" Channel is showing Dune. Dune? Horror? What's going on?)
