I saw PiL back in 1989 at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas. Flesh for Lulu opened for them. Pretty awesome show.Public Image Limited- public image.
Interesting info. Thanks. I watched the Bucket List the other night and the song was on the soundtrack. Thought to myself… good song, haven’t heard it in ages. The Alan Wilson era Canned Heat was just a little before my time (I was around but just a wee lad) but a few years ago, I stumbled on to some of their music and started listening to them. I managed to scrape together all 5 of the studio albums with Alan and some live stuff. Alan was very talented and he was one of the most awesome harmonica players ever. John Lee Hooker said he was the best he'd ever heard (high praise). But man, was Alan a strange dude. I think if he were around today, he would have been able to get some medication to help with his issues but back then his only meds were weed, amphetamines and beer and they weren't real good for his problems. There's not a lot of info out there on Alan but there is a good book I read called Blind Owl Blues. It's well worth reading. Sadly, Alan is one of the least known of the 27 club.
Here's the same song but live. This is on the bonus material of the Woodstock blu-ray

...the infamous "Black Betty" by Ram Jam......It's the one in my head, and since I don't like the song and never learned the lyrics but can't shake it, I fill it in with my own.
O-oh, Black Betty, canydgram
O-oh, Black Betty, bang the man
Black Betty in a can, what a sham,
Black Better with her spam, pound the sand
And so on.
No, it's not always easy being me.
Love that song. An Iggy classic. Siouxsie and the Banshees do a great cover of it.I am a passenger
And I ride and I ride
I ride through the city's backside
I see the stars come out of the sky
Yeah, they're bright in a hollow sky
You know it looks so good tonight
I saw them around that time as well in NYC. Can't remember if Flesh for Lulu opened but I do remember we only saw about 20 minutes of PIL and then the show was canceled because either Johnny Rotten or a fan or both were acting up or something. My most vivid memory of the evening though is having my friend's cousin who was too short to see over the crowd sitting on my shoulders. Good times!I saw PiL back in 1989 at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas. Flesh for Lulu opened for them. Pretty awesome show.
