After work yesterday, my daughter and I had dinner with one of my co workers, then I picked up a couple of shepherd's hooks for the firepit area. Not long after I got home, I noticed a police officer and dog walking down the street, and my neighbor stopped and thanked him for his hard work......I thought that's nice. As I was taking the hooks out of the car, I noticed six other officers had joined the first one at the end of my driveway. They were talking and pointing to the wooded area behind my house. Turns out there had been an armed robbery at the apartment complex around the corner from the house, and three suspects had been seen in the area. Apparently, one of them had a rifle. All three suspects had finally been apprehended, and the officers were searching for evidence, and interviewing witnesses. I walked to the end of the driveway and asked if it was okay to get my mail....they were standing in the way....the officer with the dog handed the mail to me and told me to have a good evening.
That was the second armed robbery in those apartments within a couple of months.....and the week before Easter, some guy got into a confrontation with his father, and shot and killed him there. I hope the neighborhood crime spree is over......and I blame the university for over expanding.

Thankful you and daughter are safe. Good to see kind and concerned officers. I am rural, and the crime activity exists here as well. Especially on weekends!

I'm so glad we weren't home. Our officers are really good, most of them young with families of their own.
I guess crime is on the rise everywhere.....it sure is a shame though ♥

Thanks ♥
Hope y'all stay safe as well.
It's really kind of unnerving, isn't it? I'm seriously considering buying a gun for protection. Ten years ago, this sort of thing didn't happen here.
...if you wish to pursue that route, PM me and I'll help you with your choices......also, dial up the production of stump water......

OMG - maybe grab a few fireplace pokers to defend yourself with just in case - not sure if shepherd's hooks will do (I am assuming the hooks are to hang lanterns or planters on?) Stay safe!

Hey everyone, how are we all doing? What are we doing today. I am going into work. I hope my two lazy co co-workers actually did something today

We worked this morning and were done by lunchtime, so we decided to play (aka work) in the yard some. We mowed the entire property, worked in some flower beds, hung some hanging baskets, and the place looks lovely. Then we set up some equipment and worked some of the dogs (we do agility), ate dinner, worked more agility, designed more practice courses and did MORE agility. Did I mention we're agility nuts? :)
If you've ever seen a dog and handler team on television that make agility look totally easy, that's an amazing team. The dogs that hit the weave poles going 80 kmh., get the proper entry, and fly through them like it's nothing is a dog that's had a lot of good groundwork before ever seeing those poles. The dog I'm running now is 99% flawless when it comes to weaving, but there's always that one clinker and today was that clinker. From mowing earlier, there were some clumps of grass laying around. When I sent him in, he hit the entry and began weaving as he should have. (A dogs job [in the weave poles] is to commit to that first pole and complete all 12 poles no matter what the handler does; if the handler does a cartwheel and proceeds with the chicken dance the dog should NOT exit the weave poles until they're completed.) Well, THIS dog today decided that my doing a 180 degree turn wasn't interesting, but my accidentally kicking a clump of grass into the air when I did so WAS and he popped on the 5th or 6th pole, grabbed the clump of grass mid-air, shook it as though it were a small vermin to kill, went BACK into the weaves and completed them as if I wouldn't notice. I laughed and laughed. We absolutely love this game.

"....oh yeah, and do me a favor after I say that wouldja?....stuff my carcass with a couple of bags of microwave popcorn, cuz the whole cremation process will be a lot more entertaining....."

:lol::lol::lol: ****can't....breathe....****:lol::lol::lol:

And now a confession: these comments that make me scream-laugh stay in my mind for weeks at a time, filed away in my mental rolodex of Funny Stuff. And knowing my luck, it will be sitting there, idling away in the back of the tiny peanut shell I call a brain for some time and will only resurface when someone I know well meets me face to face and begins telling me about a bad event in their life. As they tell me they slipped on a patch of ice and broke their hip, I'll think "carcass. popcorn. cremation" and I'll bust up laughing hysterically just as the person is telling me that their hip was fractured and they may never walk correctly again. I think there's really something wrong with me :nrvs:
