i'm going to go outside and flip over my compost pile. jack be nimble jack be quick. plastic bag on the counter is getting full...banana peels, coffee grounds, egg shells, dirty rotten tomatoes. which sounds like a great title. cloudy today, overcast, deliveries coming up from marquette, a big-arse window, ten feet wide five and half high, a cut-down entry door. bells are sounding. calling the faithful. dogs used to hold choir practice when the bells rang. come to think of it, they must have fixed the bells. time was they'd start in, stop, start again and stop quicker than the first time, then they'd start up and it was off to the races. go figure that one out. entertained thoughts of climbing up in the belfry...there's actually two of them. put dampers on the knockers? anyone put dampers on their knockers? bunch of tube socks maybe? :D ummmm. that is all. over and out.

Today I am worrying, and it may be unnecessary.

This tropical storm Hermine is heading to Florida. I have grandkids at Disney in Florida. Is that the area the storm is heading to? (I barely know Canadian geography.)
Orlando will get some weather but nothing to be concerned about. It will mostly be rain. By the time the storm's stronger bands get there, they will have traveled for a bit over land, which greatly and quickly saps their strength.

Today I am prepping for what looks to be Hurricane Hermine. Us and Manatee County look to be getting the worst of it in the Bay Area. Primary concern for us is flooding. The neighborhood here break up enough of the ground winds to keep it from becoming a huge factor unless we get a direct eye hit from a Cat4/5 storm.

It is overcast and grey outside, about 78 degrees F. Some wind gusts to about 50mph right now, but nothing sustained. It is steadily raining somewhere between sprinkle and steady rain. we did get about 9 or 10, inches yesterday though and so everyone is concerned about the saturated ground not being able to absorb a large of amount of rain in a short time.

Thank you.

They've been getting some rain. I don't know if it's related....rain happens. Granddaughter refuses rain cover, lol.

Hope you don't get to much weather or any damage.

That is fascinating! Dogs will sometimes howl in unison at passing ambulances. Somewhere back home they have an educational wolf preserve where you learn how wolves behave in a pack; the chain link separates you from the wolves as they play, eat, fight and howl. The cool part is when the facilitators ask the audience to start howling. Eventually, the wolves join, resulting in an echoic anomaly; humans and wolves howling together!
Don't know why the two stopped howling at the bells. Could be the bells.
Broke my no coffee rule today, just a little cream, no sugar.
Standby for more. I had half a banana and a whole fluffernutter with Nutella and almond butter, sounds a bit indulgent now that I look. Tasty though!

The outer edges of the storm came in yesterday. It rained heavily here. That is what is in the Orlando/Kissimmee area now. Disney is about 75-80 miles NE of where I live. It's actually just outside the town of Kissimmee, not Orlando technically. If they are in a hotel, they will be fine. They will probably get 6-8 inches of rain and winds around 50mph sometime tomorrow. It will just seem like a long, heavy thunderstorm. They should be just fine. :)

Karen, and I, and the kids went grocery shopping. As we are about to leave the store, the bottom fell out of the clouds, and we got drenched. The grocery bags had water in the bottom of them. What a mess!
We had postponed it from early this morning, and by 10 AM the sun was peeking out, so we went.

I hope that the hurricane blows over without causing damage. I remember a few hurricanes hitting New England. Gloria comes to mind because of the preparation involved: tape the windows, seal the cracks, batten down the hatches and take cover.

Hoss has given you excellent advice and updates. I am about 40 miles north of him and a tad inland- not right on the coastline. Lucky to be in a rural area, so less flooding. Parts just below me had a lot of flooding due to the river and creeks.
More coming in right now. Concern now is the stronger Thunderstorm cells that come with the feeder bands.
Your family should be safe.

Stay safe down there and let us know you're okay. At least some of us will be worried about you. ;)

I live in Pinellas County, which is the peninsula side of the Bay Area on the Gulf. I am about 3 miles from the water as the crow flies. It has started really coming down now and Our office just sent everyone home. Stay dry Spideyman!

I am where the two red arrows are pointing.
View attachment 17316!
And I'm in the red glob just above the top arrow. It's raining.........
