...wellllll, except for what that unfortunate plunge from the hotel roof robbed you of....
You know the story. Man finds old oil lamp on the beach, brushes the sand off, poof! A mighty genie appears!
"You have freed me from the lamp, oh master. In gratitude, I shall grant you one wish."
"I thought it was three wishes," the man says.
Genie scowls. "One wish! I'm a one-wish genie! Look, it's whatever you want! You gonna ask it or not? I got a lot to catch up on."
The man considers. "I want a bridge to Hawaii."
"What?!?!"
The man nods. "See, I've always wanted to to go Hawaii, but I don't want to be bobbing on the water on a ship, and I'm afraid to fly. So I want a bridge so I can drive there."
"Are you nuts?" the genie yells. "The pilings and foundation, all the steel going into the depths of the ocean and across, the engineering, the environmental statements, the thousands of miles of bolts and cables and asphalt! Forget it! Can't be done! Make another wish!"
The man is taken aback. This is not the genie he would've expected. But after another moment, he tries again.
"Genie, I want to understand women. Why they cry when they do. What makes them happy, what makes them upset. How to please them fully, if you get my drift, and I'm sure that you do. How to read them so I can tell what they want and how I'm going to make them mad or happy at any given moment."
The genie's features set to a scowl. He glowers at the man.
"So. You want that bridge two lanes or four?"
