A few years ago I read a book called Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk.
I learned there was this band called The Dictators, with the vocalist named Handsome Dick Manitoba. I started to wonder, what would a made up name like that be in Finnish.

Since Manitoba is a province in Canada while the band is American, I 'translated' the name to KJ Norrbotten, since there's a province called Norrbotten in Sweden, our neighbour. The "KJ" are the initials of "H.D".

A screen name based on a King character would have been a better choice, but at that point I had no better idea.
But there's one screen name on this board, I'm kind of jealouse of: Ted the Power man, that's a real cool name.
(I'm pretty sure there's/was a member by that name)

Hey, DJ, it's also my real first name, too. But, I go by Dan because I got tired of explaining to people 'No, It's not just a girls name.' Looks like there's actually three of us Dana's here on the board (see Danie's post)!
actually, Dana is traditionally a boy's name. For a long time, I kept asking my mom, "Why'd you name me a boy's name?"

Same thing I'd ask my Mom, too. She was feeling awfully English when she named me- Dane Bentley- as in LORD Bentley (at least that what I tell myself and my cats when they get testy with me). :highly_amused:

I know several guys named Dana in Newfoundland. Not uncommon as a guy's name where I came from. I really love that name.
