Thinking about either fish or a pb&j....got a few nice local jams and jellies (peach & bell pepper, ohhhhhh baby), but I've also got some super-fresh trout and a few zucchini that were pulled just yesterday....life's tougher decisions, eh?

What is on my mind is that three different families,of police officers who did nothing but go to work today to help make a difference, are now sitting in a darkened room, and the only thing you can hear is sobbing, and perhaps the click of rosary beads..

Thank you, the one thing I don't have right now is Netflix. I did once. I will qualify that statement by saying thank you for explaining. It's not really the only thing I don't have. I saw the thread just a few minutes ago. I am not really that sad about not having Netflix right now.

It is all so wrong. Most are good folks trying to earn a living. This is pure evil.

Candles are lit. Too many candles, too many tear. When will this end?

I've hit a snag, lately. My mother appears to have popped a disc in her back, and has been in excruciating pain for the past couple of days. It's been plaguing me. I usually try to write from Monday through Friday nowadays, with Saturday and Sunday being my designated chill days. I didn't accomplish much of anything yesterday; the sight of my mother struggling to get around evicted a lot of the enthusiasm I had built in recent days out of my being. Hopefully, her ailment will be remedied very soon.

Sorry to hear this, my mother has constant back pain and leg pain. I hope that doesn't keep you from writing for too long!

I'm excited about this trip. My car needed brake pads, I guess I'll pick it up today. Danny needs to learn how to read a map! You never know how spotty phone data can be. He keeps having this vision of us not quite making the switchback turn and plunging to our deaths. If he only knew how scary those turns are, he wouldn't be contemplating sleep as an option from the passenger's seat!

Looonnnnng shower + beer, thanks. Just spent 1.5 hours cutting the back yard in the blistering sun. Panting and drinking ice water in front of the AC vent/fan atm.

So I've been noticing a faint stench out back for a couple weeks now. Very faint, but still a stench. The dogs have obviously noticed, as well. I just figured it was maybe a combo of my neighbors trash cans (right near my fence), the extreme heat, and/or a small creature rotting out in the tall grass. I decided to trace the smell and it led me right to the basement door, which was covered in buzzing flies. (At this point I'm sure you all know where this is going, unfortunately.)
This basement is already a creep-out without the thought of dead things/horrid odors - 1940s house, crypt-like crawlspace cellar, ancient piping going every which way, etc. As I swing the door open the stench hits me like a WAVE, right up the nose and a punch to the chest. I scan around really quickly and there is the source, in a half-propped sitting position in the far corner - a bloated and decaying possum/cat/raccoon/? covered in more squirming maggots than I'd ever seen in my life. I caught roughly 1-2 seconds of the thing before slamming the door, backing away in disgust, and screaming out "Jesus F****** Christ!!" for the entire neighborhood to hear. (Sorry, kids!)
I know it's got to be pulled out of there, but I can't, sorry.....maybe I'll snag one of the neighborhood kids or the scrap metal guys to take care of it. That flash image is gonna be in my dreams tonight, I just know it....the smell....the audible squirming....
