What a fun thread! Since I've joined I have wondered what some of the Avatars meant. Mine is a Currier & Ives print called "The Three Jolly Kittens-After the Feast" ca. 1871 from the Library of Congress. I do a lot of archival research, and sometimes go on whimsical rabbit holes in the archives that have nothing to do with my research; "The Three Jolly Kittens" was one of my finds. I suppose I picked the image because I am a cat person (hello to the other cat-based avatars!) and because the image makes me laugh (gluttonous cats regretting their feast; reminds me a bit of my own garbage disposal of a cat).
Funny, because I was in the Navy about 3-+ years ago.
