I am writing this from work and am thinking "I've gotta stop connecting from work". That's not fair to the guy who pays me. Who here connects from work as well as from home? Also, what tech do you use to connect (computers, tablets, smartphones)? Oh...gotta go...the boss is coming!

Don't get caught. I connect from home and have a large computer and a laptop.

I'm responsible, and get paid, for my own production, so I connect whenever I want. If I get too distracted, I'm only hurting myself.
You are very fortunate/industrious Grandpa, and I've no doubt it's well deserved. I've never been motivated to be anything more than a wage slave for someone else, regardless of the colour of the collar. I don't really shirk and my boss wouldn't care a dang what I do because he relies on me and I come through for him. I guess we're all selling our time for money. So...laptop? Smartphone?

If I am working weekends and/or nights (which is around 90% of the time) I will bring my iPad to work with me.

I don't always have time to log on, but once we are done our deliveries - picking up medications to deliver, delivering charts and picking up lab specimens), the rest of the time is spent in the Tube Room where we monitor the activity of the tubes, answer the phone etc.

So I don't feel bad about going on the internet on the "down times" :apple:

On the old job it felt like I was shackled to the computer by my headset and barely had time to get up and use the rest room. Hard to believe I put up with that for 10 years!

Sorry for this long drawn out story

zzzzzzzzzzz :go::big_grin:

Depending on who you work for, most monitor the employees activities if you are using a work computer rather than your own device.

p.s. the iPad was a gift from hubby this past summer (12th anniversary) so it's nicer than having to use that small screen on my phone!

When I taught, I would often get on the board at work (school), but was aware that the administrators had the right, at any time, to view employees' Internet activity. After several years of getting on the SKMB during my plan time and a few (maybe more than a few...) times when I had kids in class (they were working independently, okay?), I figured they weren't really checking, and if they were, they didn't much care. Even so, I'd have several stories in my brain that I could tell, just in case they ever confronted me with it. Now that I'm retired, I get on here any time I care to, from my phone, Kindle and PC.

Oh, laptop. I stay away from the phone for anything but really necessary emails, texts, messages, flashlight, calculator, directions, Googling stuff, checking the bank account, looking at my calendar, alarm clock, news apps, camera.....

Anyway, no, not on the phone. For longer reading and typing longer messages, it just drives my old eyes and fumbling QWERTY fingers crazy.

Early morning, late (for me) in the evening. I take little breaks at work and check the board, but I mostly don't log in from work. Not because anyone watches or cares, but because my workload is ginormous. And if I get distracted or get involved, I end up having to work late and I hate that. My co-worker plays solitaire and mah-jong or facebooks all day long.
