about dump cakes. How long has this been a thing? The possibilities are endless.

I will be stocking up on various canned pie fillings when they are on sale, and probably various Betty Crocker cake mixes too.
I just checked my pantry - carrot cake mix with raisins (Duncan Hines), 1 can of crushed pineapple (I drained it first) and then I did not 'dump' the mix - I followed the instructions on the box.

I have been baking since I was a little kid so this idea of just dumping a mix on top of fruit is too bizarre for me to handle!

I got creative and added dried cranberries and slivered almonds to the pineapple (on the bottom, which will end up on the top) so basically a pineapple upside down carrot cake?

Will let you know how it turned out :facepalm_smiley::monkey::m_pan:

Dump cakes are a lazy (or busy) cooks best friend. Sweet and so moreish. Also, ice cream always goes well.

I was trying to figure out what to do with some leftover pineapple bits. (A bit smaller than chunks.) I found dump cakes. And was trying to figure out how to make them from scratch. ;;D I don't use cake mixes.

But then I remembered, about three weeks ago, my daughter in law asked me if there was a cake mix I can eat, so I double checked if Betty Crocker was still safe (it is).

My favorite: cherry pie filling, chocolate cake mix and a coke. Dump into a dutch oven (greased well) and cook slow over a campfire if you can. Eat outside. By yourself - just you and your entire dutch oven campfire dump cake, you can even use the gigantic wooden spoon you stirred it with to eat it. Be sure to put the potholders in your lap where you're holding your warm dutch oven or a beach towel or something - you will burn your legs if you don't. If you eat it in the dark by yourself, it didn't happen. Wear elastic waistband for the occasion. This is based on actual events.

PS - Sandra Lee cracks me up. I miss her show.

My dear, I'm sorry but I felt you might not be able to handle all of the implications. Your mother disagreed at first but I managed to get her to see that dump cakes could push you over an edge. Yet now you know anyway. Please be careful, dear. There can always be too much of a good thing.
