BBS is an acronym for Bulletin Board System, which were old timey computer networks. Each was privately owned, and you would dial in to connect. Once there you could share text files/warez/pics, or talk about random stuff with other people. The first one went up in 1978, and they reached their peak in 1996 with over 5000 systems in the USA alone. They were essentially killed off by the Internet. Today, there's about 75 free dial-up BBS's left in the USA. There are hundreds of Telnet-only ones, however they have a tendency to suck.

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! I'm sure to stick around! Message boards seem to be a dying breed and I am glad to find one about one of my favorite topics of discussion. :D

Hiya! Welcome! I live in Florida now, but grew up in and around Tulsa. I went to OU and lived in OKC for a time. I used to hang out at Club Pyramid off NW Expressway, but that early 90's. My wife and I went on our first real date-trip together at Frontier City. I also played there with my band in 97 or 98. We have a lot of similar interests. I am guessing you, given your interests and the lifestyle thereof, feel a bit out of place in Okieland. I certainly always did.

Well anyway, welcome and just thought I'd let you know there are other Okies on the board! The SKMB are the best folks on the 'net, brother!
