go to Stephen king collector dot com and click on first edition and gives you good aspects to look for , for verifying 1st editions. also if it doesn't have a price on the dustjacket that's a really good clue its a book club edition or something. definetly not a 1st 1st if no price. also sometimes at places like ollies where they sell new hardcovers for 2 bucks a lot of them have remainder marks on them. usually and ink slash or dot across the side top or back of paper. not really sure what a remainder mark is and why but even if its a first first if it has that mark on it it kills the collectiblility of it and value.
for mr. Mercedes you will see a price on the inside front cover of the dust jacket of 30 dollars. also on the copyright page you will see the number line as 13579108642

Collection is nearly complete. Just arrived courtesy of some wonderful sellers over at AbeBooks:

Carrie (BCE)
Lisey's Story
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
Joyland
Blackhouse
Talisman
Storm of the Century (BOMC)

TGWLTG and Joyland I believe are first editions, but they are much smaller in size than most of my other first ed books. Not sure if this is normal.

The first edition of TGWLTG is a smaller hardcover. First edition of Joyland is a large paperback (an illustrated hardcover was just released a few months ago, and I think jchanic mentioned something about a hardcover collector's edition - not sure about that).

I'm not too sure about that sorry, I'll leave an alert for Moderator to answer this.
Joyland was originally published in a large paperback edition by Hard Case Crimes and there was also a signed (by King) and numbered limited illustrated hardback edition published by them also. Then, Hard Case Crime recently decided to do a hardback illustrated version (it has numerous new illustrations done just for this edition) which is the one that signals2112 has. Hope this helps.
