I like oak. I tend to buy some unique pieces. I have a beautiful Oak cabinet hutch. I call my king cabinet. My table could use a refinishing.;-D
I remember a long time ago you sent me a pic of your oak cabinet and I could see the shadow of a guy taking the picture (I remember thinking you were a guy) :playful::witless::stupid:

I had a nice find over the weekend. I went into Half Price Books just to kill some time and see if they had one of 3 editions of books I was looking for. The main one I've been looking for was an old softcover of The Green Mile like I used to have but lost years ago. This is the one...

I saw one once a few weeks ago at another store but it was in pretty bad shape so I passed. There are some on Amazon from third party sellers but they go up to $18-$20 for whatever they consider is Very Good condition. This place had two that looked great though. The first one was just a little yellow and had clearly been read, but in just about the best shape I could have expected to find a 20 year old used book, until I looked at the other one. It was in a green slipcase, when I bought mine back in the day it didn't come with one but apparently there were some that did, but I thought at the time maybe it was just a case somebody threw their copy in. This thing was in perfect condition though, it looked like it just showed up from '97 thanks to the slipcase I guess. And the fact that whoever sold it to Half Price Books apparently never bothered to read it or take it out of the case too often. It was shiny and the pages stiff and white, mint condition. And it was only $7.99, plus another 20% off because they were having a Labor Day Weekend sale. I ended up getting it and two other paperbacks for $10.

The only editions that came with a slipcase were the book club editions. If you look closely at the book you'll notice that there isn't a price printed on the lower left side of the back cover. I like the slip cased editions, they're cool!

I have one with a slip case in very good condition. Pretty sure I found it at the used bookstore, so paid about $3 for it. :)

I hadn't noticed but I see it now. The nondescript slipcase had me considering it was possibly a book club edition.

I'm having pretty good luck at the bookstore this week, between that and one of the other books I got that day (a certain edition of The Martian Chronicles I wanted), I was feeling lucky and went to another used book shop in town. I'm still looking for a certain copy (or one of several) of The Shining. I've also been planning to read Dreamcatcher sometime soon, even though I thought the movie was OK I haven't been too rushed to read the book. I bought a paperback copy years ago and I still have it but I want a new copy, this one spent a couple of years in the trunk and while it's still readable it's really yellowed and all puffed/ballooned out. I was just going to get whatever cheap paperback version I could find (and used book stores usually seem to have plenty copies of Dreamcatcher), but they had a first edition hardcover in great shape for $6. I wasn't as excited as I was about finding that copy of The Green Mile but it's a lot nicer looking book than the little paperback I expected to walk out with for about the same price. I also grabbed a paperback copy of Doctor Sleep which I plan to read as soon as I find one of the copies of The Shining I've been looking for so I can re-read it. It's been so long since I've actually read the book (about 22 years) as opposed to seeing the movie or mini-series that I figure I should probably re-read it before getting into the sequel and I've been putting it off. There's a third used book store in town and I'm going to try my luck there tomorrow and see if I can find a copy.

Just wondering if anyone has purchased one of these?
Signed King Chadbourne Cover Series 13 IT COVER ONLY - $29.95 - Stephen King Catalog

I am undecided over a purchase or not, I mean it is pretty cool, but...I like the UK 1st cover...so do I then have to find another copy just to show off this cover...

there's been a couple editions i'd like to get my hands on (that are so far very much out of my league) but the art on this one doesn't do it for me. which is not to say it's bad. it just doesn't float my boat.
