Today I came home (from Goodwill and all three of these books for less than $6!) with an unread paperback of The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread by Don Robertson. It's in beautiful condition for a paperback that was printed way back in 1967! Also a very nice 3rd printing (reprint 1960) hardback of The Red Pony by John Steinbeck and lastly a 5th printing hardback SIGNED of Going Rogue by Sarah Palin. I can't stand her but I figure if she gets the VP ticket with Trump and/or she gets assassinated (kidding.....mostly:biggrin-new:) it'll be worht some bucks. I also found at Value Village an unread hardback 1st of Delicate Edible Birds by Lauren Groff. It's a collection of short stories. I read her 1st book (The Monsters Of Templeton) and loved it! This is her second book. Stephen King liked her 1st book very much.

LOVE Don Robertson! He's one of my very favorites. The Morris Bird trilogy is most outstanding. Still hunting for that Paradise Falls first edition.
That's a tough one to find. I rarely even see it on Ebay for sale. You might try thriftbooks.com for it. I have seen the two volume bookclub edition on Ebay, but I prefer the true first hardback printing over those.

Excellent score! I have Delicate Edible Birds - enjoyed the stories very much. I love the cover. I would totally love to find an early Steinbeck.

Scored today, all hardcovers, $2/each:
Under the Dome (Morgan - have you already sent this to me?)
The Gunslinger (I only ever had a paperback that got lost a while back)
Mr. Mercedes (can you believe it? I've been thinking recently that I need to get with the program and read this asap!)
Further Under the Duvet (Marian Keyes essays and shorts)
Anybody Out There? (Marian Keyes)
Sushi for Beginners (Marian Keyes)
The Bride Groom (Ha Jin short story collection - I'm mad for a short story collection -have read Ha Jin before, a good writer)

It was crowded and I was on my lunch break. I will be back. What I left: The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Cujo, Dreamcatcher - all hardcover, I didn't make it to the paperbacks yet. Anyone want any of those 3 if they're still there?

No Owen King or Joe Hill or Tabitha King at all :(

Great finds. I have yet to find a hC of Gunslinger.

I just found and purchased 11/22/63 at half priced books for 9.99.its the first time ive seen this book at any used book store and it ws the only copy so i snagged that bad boy whoo hoo!
That is one I haven't seen in thrift stores either. I guess everyone loved it so they're hanging on to it. I got it for Christmas the year it was published. I always love it when there's a new one out close to Christmas - my mom will usually get it for me. This year I'm banking on Bazaar of Bad Dreams. I need it badly!

I have my youngest granddaughter here for awhile. I took her to the library and was looking through the used/for sale shelf.

I found a copy of Where the Wild Things Are, and I doubt the book was ever opened. Not a single crease in the paper-back cover. Only $2, so I bought it.

Now, she has started growling.

That was my first favorite book (and still is at the top of the list! :) ). My mom said I ripped up my first two copies because I got so excited. Glad I don't destroy books anymore - I even carry around my used bookstore paperbacks in plastic baggies to protect them!

Congrats on the excellent find!! =D

Let the wild rumpus begin! I loved reading that to my oldest - she would read along with a pacifier in her mouth. "Please don't go, we'll eat you up, we love you so!"

I don't think I had ever read it before. And my son called and I told him about her growling. I assumed she was familiar with the book, but he said no. Funny, I had only read it once, and she started growling. (I do voices and sounds when reading to children.)
Time to call the exorcist.....:biggrin-new:
