Good morning and happy Tuesday! Last day of summer vacation here.

Orientation was grueling but good and informative. Classes are set up in 90 minute blocks, 4 classes a day, alternating days. Up and down 3 floors, 4 if you count the basement where PE locker rooms are. 5 minutes between classes, 330 7th graders, 1020 total student population, organization will be absolutely necessary. No way to get from class to locker to next class with 1020 people all moving around, Evan will have to keep and carry everything he needs with him all day, and remember which classes are on which day. Even his lunch times alternate daily.

We did a complete walkthrough of both his A and B days, 15 minute blocks with each class and teacher. It was a long day. But I am glad we did it, he would have been completely lost tomorrow otherwise. It still is going to be confusing as heck for him for a few weeks! He knew someone in each class except for one, so that eased his mind a little. :)

Have to sort all the supplies out today and get lunch supplies. Have a really great day! Sending big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:

Jeez, Cat. I got tired just reading that. You deserve an 'A' for participating.

Cat, Aww that sounds like it will be very confusing for awhile. I am sending tons of hugs, calm and positive vibes to you and Evan. I hope that he gets the hang of it quickly! Have a great day everyone!!

;-D So much different from my jr high and high school days! I don't think we had 150 kids in the whole building, jr high and high school combined!

Hi CB,
Yesterday was my son's first day of high school. Time really flies. One step at a time for sure. Make lists and pray (a lot).

Have started the lists and prayers already! ;)

I got Therapist. Which makes sense, because all my life folks I have just met have decided to confide their deepest secrets with me. Apparently I give off some vibe! LOL

Educational videos for Out of Order

Thanks Sunny! I enjoyed this. Especially the Shakespeare and "Sh*t Southern Women Say!" I don't sound like this much except when I go home for a few days (and when I have a few too many drinks)!

I can flatfoot too! We'll have to make it to the 2016 Kon so we can teach the rest of the board!

Happy Tuesday all!

((all in need or not))

This time of year was always a bummer for me, as school and I weren't on the best of terms. The second week of August we see the opening of the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) in Toronto. That would signify the end of summer for me and the rapid slide into scholastic hell after Labour Day. I still feel the residual echoes even now...

My Tall Guy is a teacher. I see him happy to get away from the little maniacs at the beginning of summer. Relax and enjoy the last part of June and July. Then, as we move steadily toward August, that slow resignation that his time is almost up. Finally, the dreaded last few days before he's got to drag himself back. And he's a teacher, so they go back a week earlier than the kids do.
Kids might only have to see a teacher for a year or two. 13 years or so of elementary, junior and High school. But my poor Tall Guy has 30 years of it to live through, at least. He doesn't just have homework, he has to grade all of their homework. And a bunch of other things that spill over into his private time that most people don't even think of, that he gets precisely zero pay for. I feel for the poor guy. I really do.

Saving these to stick in DD#2's lunch bag :) Puns are her very favorite form of humor--thanks for a few new ones
That's a great idea! Might get me on my youngest's good side. She's a hormonal mess these days, as only prepubescent girls can be. Hope your days are getting easier. Your Madeline Kahn/Clue analogy cracked me up. I totally get it.

Girl, teenagers… Nothing more to say, except that boys are MUCH easier than girls (lol). I prefer surly silence for three years to daily visits from the DramaLlama. I grew up with all brothers, so the TEARS… oy vey, the TEARS… flabbergast me. And the mouthiness.

LOL Dramallama indeed. Boys are much easier. Last night she cried over my thoughtlessness about ketchup.
