This one is set in the 1800's, sort of. Watch it and let me know what you think. The fact that it's not based in the 1800's kind of put me off. I'll check it out though. Benedict Cumberbatch is adorbs, so worst case scenario I'll not like the show but like looking at it.
You won me over with "sort of." Now I'm intrigued. This one is set in the 1800's, sort of. Watch it and let me know what you think.
I watched this last night, it was excellent! So, did anyone catch the Abdominable Bride?
I personally loved it. I've already watched it twice and I think I will a third time. There were so many little subtle nuances, I'm sure I didn't catch them all the first time. Fun watching.
A Sharon C post will catch me off guard sometimes, too.Grandma is a fan of most things Sherlockian. The books by Doyle. The movies with Robert Downey Jr. The show Elementary. The Basil Rathbone movies, although the treatment of Watson in those is offputting to her. And other things. I think she even liked the book and movie The Seven Percent Solution. She drew the line at The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother.
She's been wanting to see this series. I don't have the same devotion to 221B Baker Street, but I'm up for decent storytelling, and you guys' endorsements are encouraging. It appears as though this series is on Netflix. So we'll probably start watching it soon.
I just opened this thread for the first time to comment. Saw a post from SharonC. Sigh. Sniff. A tug there.
As a first time viewer, I thought it was absolutely brilliant. The metaphysical stuff was intriguing to me. Inspired concept of the Sherlock universe. Are all episodes like this one? Similar? So, did anyone catch the Abdominable Bride?

Well, not really as Sherlock is set in modern times, like when he was on theAs a first time viewer, I thought it was absolutely brilliant. The metaphysical stuff was intriguing to me. Inspired concept of the Sherlock universe. Are all episodes like this one? Similar?
I hope they continue in the way this previous episode did. The perfect combination. I will watch from the beginning, though. PBS is replaying them.Well, not really as Sherlock is set in modern times, like when he was on theplane, coming out of his drug overdose and going back into it to solve the old murder.
But they are all very clever and fun just because of the interaction of Watson and Holmes. All the side characters are really great too. I've enjoyed it from the get go. I would go back and watch them from the beginning.
I just looked this up. THey aren't filming the next season until spring 2016 to be released 2017!!!! WTH!!!!!!??????????Dana Jean - have you seen any info re the next episode? Not seeing in my listings.
Dana Jean I see my PBS station will repeat it Sunday night. I loved it too. First season was awesome, and you do have to see it more than once. And, I haven't read them, but there appears to be a lot of people not liking The Abominable Bride. I just loved it. I am now on my 4th viewing.
