Just finished "Birdwatcher: the Life of Roger Tory Peterson" by Elizabeth J. Rosenthal. I had downloaded this to my Kindle months ago, and started it then, but got way-laid until this past week when I picked it up again. It's a great biography, published in 2008, and it's given me a fairly large list of follow-up reading material to pursue. I began birdwatching fairly late in the game, but don't travel anywhere now without my Peterson's field guide! I'm strictly an amateur, but becoming aware of birds has broadened my experiences in the outdoors immeasurably and given me so much enjoyment. Reading about Roger Peterson's life was so interesting. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of his classic, "Wild America". If you've ever used a Peterson's field guide, you'll love this book.
