I like oak as well. Beautiful piece. So, I came home with this bed today. I couldn't pass it up. The price was fantastic, it's Tiger oak and I love oak. It needs a little TLC as you can see but it is solid and even has the original 'springs'. The foot board has the same wooden curlicues on it, all hand carved, as the little medallion is different on each board. The sign said it was 130 years old, but I'm not quite sure that it's that old, but it IS old. It even has wooden wheels on it! Well, one is missing, but they are made out of wood!

I'd love to know when it was made, very nice. Have you been able to find the manufacturer's mark? Then you could Google it for information. I have an antique walnut bed frame that's the dark color of molasses. It belonged to my great-grandparents and is a stout four-poster bed with bulbous finial posts. I'm thinking it is from the 1930s.So, I came home with this bed today. I couldn't pass it up. The price was fantastic, it's Tiger oak and I love oak. ....this is a terrific find!....my mom still has her mother's, great-grandmother's bed.....mahogany and heavy as lead, but still beautiful after near 200 years of being around.....So, I came home with this bed today. I have an ancient cast iron bed that has been handed down through the family forever. I love it.....this is a terrific find!....my mom still has her mother's, great-grandmother's bed.....mahogany and heavy as lead, but still beautiful after near 200 years of being around.....
Magnificent piece, kingricefan . I have a very similar bed/bedroom set. When my parents bought what was to be a summer home, turned out to be permanent, in NJ it had the bed set. The house was over 100 years. They bought in 1958. The small dresser does not have the mirror, the larger one does. Original springs too. Enjoy!!So, I came home with this bed today. Those are beautiful pieces, Spidey! I texted a picture of my bed to my sister and she said it looked like a 'wedding' bed? Do you know that term? I'm having buyers remorse now- being unemployed I really shouldn't have bought this but the price was just too low to resist. Maybe I'll try to sell it on Craigslist.Magnificent piece, kingricefan . There's no marks of any kind on the bed itself. There is this on the springs:I'd love to know when it was made, very nice. Have you been able to find the manufacturer's mark? So, do you think all of these pieces could be one complete set? Old Dominion? Good luck on researching it.There's no marks of any kind on the bed itself. There is this on the springs:
