I can't do it in order. I have trouble picking artistic works and such. I also haven't read all his books yet so far BUT I'd go.

1: The Talisman - credit to Mr. Staub as well

2: Different Seasons - I feel Breathing Method is a bit out of place, though. A good story but I always thought something like less supernatural should in its place. Shawshank hooks you and is a wonderful tale, Apt Pupil and The Body are so great. It makes me wish novella format was more popular.

3: Wizard and Glass

4: The Shining

5: 11/22/63

with The Stand, other DT books (1-3 mostly but entire series is basically one journey.) and Dolores Claiborne probably bringing up bext places. It may change, though. The list I mean.

The Darkside of the Moon (England really)
1. The Shining
2. Insomnia
3. The Stand
4. Duma Key
5. Tie between The Mist and Langoliers
Until I read joyland and shawshank, the langoliers was 5th in my list on the old board. I love that story, it's a shame the others from 4 past midnight weren't up to its standard.
IT, The Shining, Dark Tower series, and The Stand will probably show up on nearly everyones list. I mean like some variation of them.
I see 11/22/63 a lot on these lists (including mine). I find it amazing that he starts in the 70s, his pre 90s work is generally considered to be his best, yet nearly 4 decades after he started he releases a book that is in so many top 5s.

Major caveat: I've only read around 30 of King's novels/collections (so far). That being said, my Top 5 would be:

1. The Green Mile
2. IT
3. The Stand
4. The Shining
5. Night Shift

Salem's Lot and 11/22/63 just missed the cut. I'm curious to see if my Top 5 change as I read the rest of King's works.

I often feel a bit isolated in that The Stand is not in my top 5, along with the DT series. Neither really spoke to me the way they do to other fans. I'm sure the same could be said for any of my listings as well.

That's the great thing about a book...either it grabs you or it doesn't, and if it doesn't it's no harm done and you simply move onto the next one!
(Psst, the first time I tried to read "It", it didn't grab me at all and I gave up on it when Ben received Mikes phone call. I picked it up later and re-started, kept reading, and bam--instant book love.)
