It is really, really, really good. And that crumbly topping cuts down on the molasses taste a bit. But only have one piece. Two would be too much.I've heard of shoofly pie but never knew exactly what it was so just looked up the recipe. I like molasses as an ingredient in recipes but people actually eat a pie made pretty much with nothing but that as the filling???
That's what I was thinking, i.e. that it would be really overpoweringly sweet. Even more so than pecan pie which is delicious but even with my sweet tooth, I can't eat more than a sliver at a time.It is really, really, really good. I have made the molasses spice cookies and they are good. My girls don't like gingerbread, so I had to find an alternative. That's what I was thinking, i.e. that it would be really overpoweringly sweet. The ox tongue cookie recipe sounds a lot like what my Grammie called molasses cookies and those are delicious. Uh oh, that might mean I'm agreeing with you again. Mark the date on your calendar!

I’m aghast! Go sit in the corner! Pretzel crumbs should never be used in Shoo Fly pie. (Some here (not to be named) might consider pretzel crumbs and Shoo Fly pie to tomatoes and clam chowder.)
