Homemade chicken pot pie (the mister made the filling and I made the pie crust) and a glass (so far) of Apothic Red. This was a poop day at work, so wine was called for :)
That sounds so much better than what we ate. Tomorrow I am going to make a special effort to cook something good :tickled_pink:

It was the best we've ever made, I think. I adjusted the seasonings and recommended the sauce be thickened a little before we capped it with the crust and slang it forth into the oven, but Mark did all the prep and cooking while I took a wee nap. He's a keeper, I think :)

Making some vegetable soup and just started on a loaf of bread - although it won't actually go with the soup as I decided to make cinnamon raisin bread this time.

Here's a couple of loafs I made while Andy was home (the smaller one was made with Best for Bread flour and the one on the right was made with all purpose flour) - same recipe but different results

Haha - okay send it to me in a "Conversation" :cheerful:

So - I made that Jewish bread (Challah) yesterday but since I had it timed for 30 minutes and then went to post on this Board, I kinda forgot about it. - It ended up a wee bit on the dark side [or as they used to call it in Scotland - "well-fired"].

;-D

Still edible but if I made it again I would give it 20 to 25 minutes, not 30.

Last night I made Swiss steak which we ate with sauteed rice and vegetables.

A simple meatloaf made with minced green bell pepper and onion with Zaxby's cole slaw, navy beans and cornbread.

Why are those beans so white? Did you forget the molasses?

I plan to make a huge pot of beans this week. Thursday.

(Because I have to pick up kid at school, I want someone here so I can leave oven on. DH will be home because he has an MRI in the morning. And...obviously he does not want beans before going for his tests this week. :a24:

~~~~
Last night we had a ham with mashed potatoes. Tonight I will make scalloped potatoes with the left-over ham.
They are navy beans, that's the natural color. Butter beans and some lima beans are the same color. I don't like molasses unless I'm making baked beans.
I never considered cooking navy beans any way other than baked. If they were served to me....they would then be coated in molasses.
I guess you don’t eat molasses sandwiches then? Skip the jam....pb & molasses. (In my home, pb substitute and molasses.)
Molasses is very southern so I don't know why I never cook with it. Yes, I love peanut butter and molasses sandwiches with chili. That was a staple in elementary school. Usually, when I'm cooking dry beans, I don't like to season them with anything but salt. I want the flavor to be as natural to that particular bean as possible. Once in a while I may toss in an onion.
