I used to listen to audio books on tape on my commute because my Buick didn't have a CD player. The good news was that my library had a big selection of books on cassette, including Stephen King. Treat yourself to On Writing. Hilarious and entertaining. Duma Key was very well done; so was IT.
I’ve read and listened to On Writing many times! I’ve also read Duma key but not listened.

...if no one gets to it, I will bring up a couple of tidbits later...on road now-taking Tracy to a lighthouse....it was again, her only request....family dinner this evening with our group and then begins the long road home...
Hope the lighthouse visit goes well. Safe travels home to you and your crew!! ((Scott/Tracy/Seth/Ciera))

I've said it a million times but he needs to write a follow-up entitled On Reading. It would be another autobiographical cruise through the important books that shaped him. We have seen glimpses of this in certain books but I just know it'd make a compelling read, full of his patented gross-out humor. Perhaps it could be a family affair and Tabby, Owen, Naomi, and Joe could write chapters about their favorite books. King has long said books have been a subject that have brought his family together and prompted many lively debates. I don't know, I just think this would be another window into not only his mind but his domestic life.

I feel I owe an explanation of karaoke night in case anyone watched Mrs. Blue’s video on facebook....
So we all know there had been champagne, thank you, Morgan! There had also been the aforementioned mai tais and craft beer. Mr. and Baby Blue were my ride, because I don’t drink and drive....anyway we ended up at the karaoke tavern (cash only? What year is this and the ATM was highway robbery).....let me just say that I own the fact that I am a TERRIBLE karaoke singer! Heck, I embrace it! I was a good singer once a long time ago....
Not anymore. I do karaoke because I love it. I don’t care that I’m off key and sound like a drunk, dying rooster....I enjoy the heck out of doing it.
Baby and Mr. Blue, on the other hand, are VERY good....stars. Mr. Blue even does a little dance when he sings “Tainted Love”.

Bravo! It's not a party until someone's doing drunk karaoke! It was more fun before everyone had little cameras and video recorders in their hands. You could really let go then. I'm going to have to go look at your friends list and find Mrs. Blue on the effbee and friend request her.
I'm so glad (and envious) that everyone had such a great time! No drama!

Somewhere over the rainbow
(Sunday)
Met at Dysart's Truck Stop where I ate the kitchen sink.
We were quite a crowd, although it seemed like just a blink
'til Ms. Mod and Doowopgirl and Gerry had to fly.
Felt like things were ending as we waved them all good-bye.

But. it wasn't over yet! We'd just begun the day.
We lined up in cars... Our caravan was underway.
First up was Paul Bunyon's statue - just as King described.
(Like the stuff of nightmares if you've overly imbibed,)

Next up was the Barrens which, we'd heard, are hard to find.
Robert Gray was in the lead and kept us all in mind.
I was sure I'd lost the trail because we'd missed a light
But, they all went slow enough that they remained in sight.

Bangor is a disappointment if you'd hoped to spot
Pennywise... I promise you that Derry, it is not.
It's a gorgeous little town with pretty, sloping streets
Filled with charming stores and tree -lined paths... But, wear your cleats.

Barrens weren't the way I'd pictured, though the Standpipe is.
Stopped at King's rock station - which I'd tuned in 'cause it's his.
Went to Mt. Hope Cemetery and the Waterworks
Where, I fear, the owner thought that all of us were jerks.
:icon_eek:
After we apologized he seemed to change his mind;
Offered some of us a tour, which I thought very kind.
Last stop on the tour (despite my promise to Ms. Mod)?
On the street, outside the home of a true writing god.

Neesy pointed out the house next door is up for sale...
I'll try to convince my spouse; I'm pretty sure I'll fail.
When a stranger in a cape walked up and through the gate
We all worked together to protect the King's estate.

Misery took photographs for me and Mr.S.
I begged my new best friend Neesy for her home address.
Want to send her something as a thank you for her gift;
Something I will cherish when my spirits need a lift.

Once again, I'd like to thank you all. We had a blast.
I just wish the King Kon weekend hadn't flown so fast.
Kindnesses from all of you continue to amaze.
I already miss you guys... It's only been two days.
:love-struck:

How did I miss you on the FaceTime call? Or did I? I am so confused...

Mr. Blue and I are back safe and sound in Seattle. We had such an amazing time that I think I finally have him sold on the idea of moving to Bangor. Thank you so much to everyone who planned and attended. You all made it so special. <3 I didn't take too many photos but will try to upload what I did at some point (I still have issues attaching from my phone).
