‘I'll Be Home for Christmas’ (2016). Staring James Brolin and Mena Suvari. Another Hallmark Christmas TV movie with a predictable ending… but as with all their movies it’s an authoritative guide to understanding women and journeys into what makes them tick. ;):)

Also watched ‘It’ (2017). It was okay.

Thinking about it King should write a screenplay for a Hallmark Christmas movie. All the elements of a good TV Christmas movie are already there for him to build upon… A town with a dumb name… Hot girl and guy fall in love… A failing family business… A dead spouse… A personal family trauma… Terrible babysitting skills… And a supernatural element. “A Very Derry Christmas.” Now tell me you wouldn’t watch that. :)

I saw a trailer this last weekend where Santa Claus was being played by....Kurt Russell? I had to switch the channel back and make sure he wasn't dressed up as Santa Claus to rob a bank or some other guise, but no, he's actually playing Santa Claus apparently. I didn't see him pull a gun or blow anything up in the trailer so I'm not quite sure what's going on but I'm suspicious.......

I saw that too. Russell makes for a great looking Santa. I guess one tends to mellow after escaping from NY and LA. IMO Netflix is cashing in on the success of the Hallmark Christmas movies... and bringing in some big guns in the process. :)

Guess so. I watched a really watered down psychological thriller on Hulu this weekend, part of Hulu's "Into the Dark" movie campaign. It was called "Flesh and Blood". They're making a horror movie for every holiday month or something like that. Anyway, this one starred Dermot Mulroney who's the Eric Roberts of this decade apparently. It actually set up a pretty cool plot then just lapsed into humdrum mediocrity the whole way thru. My wife made the comment "That one would have been right at home on the Hallmark Channel". I agreed completely. Hulu is trying, but so far, both movies they've made for the Into the Dark series have been very slow going.

On Her Majesty's Service also has the minor distinction of tracking with the original Ian Fleming story more than the customary Bond movie, particularly the ending (as opposed to, say, The Spy Who Loved Me, which has completely different DNA than the book. I mean, literally no resemblance). That "sleeping" line is lifted directly from the book.

Back to latest movies.

Ant-Man and the Wasp. Perfectly serviceable Marvel movie with the occasional "Oh, come on" headshaking, but what Marvel movie doesn't. And the ending makes more sense, having seen Infinity Wars first, than it would've otherwise.

And poor
Miss Moneypenny! Apparently she pined for James from the get go. I haven't seen all the Bond movies, does she ever get to tap the Bond?

Watch the ending of Die Another Day. I'm not spoiling anything, just watch it.
Also in Skyfall she is much closer to Bond than ever before, she is helping him shave.

Actually I think Lazenby's face is also wrong for Bond. He looks too friendly, too innocent, too benign. I think there should always be something a bit dangerous about Bond, after all he is a killer: he can be quite romantic with the women he meets, but he turns cold deadly in a blink. I think Timothy Dalton was the best at that, but even Roger Moore who was the jokiest Bond looks quite ruthless when he kills someone.

And the scene with the kilt also makes him look way more silly than any of the other Bonds. Bond's father is Scottish, so Bond's entitled to wear a kilt, but it seems to be done mostly for laughs. None of the other Bonds ever wore a kilt.

Cell with John Cusack & Samuel L Jackson. I have to say I kinda liked it. It had a few familiar tropes but it was well written and held my attention. Anyone out there who didn't like it?
I've read the book but have yet to see the movie - I do like John Cusack a lot, so it's encouraging to read a positive review (when it first came out it got some negative ones).
:encouragement: Thanks!
